Some of you may remember me posting on here a while back looking for an elk hunting partner for Montana. Needless to say I got lucky and found a real good one in Rob (Usi05 on here). Here's the video from my hunt. Keep an eye out for Part 2 to see if Rob fills his tag.
Grew up in Dorchester County. You're better off hunting Blackwater than Assateague. There used to be tons of deer at Assateague, but the plan there is to eradicate them.
Here's a few calling tips.
They definitely did. That's an insane good deal on that surburban though. I was able to snag a quad cab truck for 7 days for $750ish. Now, if they can only hold the reservation vs. take it :).
I've got the exact same hunting plan. Talked to the unit biologist yesterday and she relayed the confirmed Grizzly sightings to me. They are there, but not very densely populated whatsoever. Just keep a clean camp and take the usual precautions.
Wow, looks like I'm in the minority. Flying from MD to Bozeman. Grabbing a good night's sleep in a hotel and off with the rental truck the next day. Rental prices went way up this year, but then again so did everything.
I provided some information on food sources in this video that should be relevant to MD, PA, and NC. I can speak for the states further North. As others have stated, no Spring seasons.
Just found out yesterday that my hunting partner inadvertently didn't draw the MT general elk tag that he thought he did. I'm currently headed out by myself. I'm flying into Bozeman on 09/17 and plan to be in the mountains that Sat (9/18) afternoon and hunt until the following Sat. I will have a...
I bring a soft-sided cooler (see polar bear coolers) as my carry-on. This will hold full size elk loins and t.loins. I buy a couple of cheap coolers from Wal-Mart, but plastic totes will work fine or cardboard boxes as suggested above. The KEY aspect is finding a place that can flash freeze your...
Just get a soft-sided cooler for one of your carry-ons. You can ship non essentials home should you be lucky and fill this with loins and backstraps for your carry-on (not weight restricted). Just buy a cooler when you get there. Think of it as an added $50-75 cost and buy extra coolers or...
My 2018 F150 Quad cab gets 21 mpg and my wife's 2020 Forester gets 28 mpg. I'm happy with the mpg on my f150. It's one reason I didn't go the Toyota or Dodge route.
Here in MD, in many counties is 150 yds away from an occupied structure. For some urban counties it's less of archery. I have a few urban properties, where I have a narrow window of trees that I can hunt and still be legal.
Absolutely absurd. Do private property rights no longer apply? NJ is a joke. I live in MD and I worry about these implications as well. Fortunately, deer densities are a big problem here as well and the car insurance lobby wants us managing the urban deer population.
