Started November at 215.4 and had a quick drop down to 211ish. I've been hovering between 209 and 211 for the last 2 weeks. I think I need to start tracking everything I'm eating. Goal by the end of this month was 205, but I'm not sure that will happen.
A consistent 210-211 has been the...
Soto Amicus with a Toaks 750ml pot has worked well for me. A small fuel canister, stove, and bandana all nest within the pot. The only switch I've considered, but haven't made would be to a JetBoil style setup. But I have a hard time with the weight penalty when my current setup works well.
I'll echo what the others are saying in this thread: adding a device doesn't change the habits. My experience is just that it makes actually tracking the data much easier for review (and adding potential data).
I'm using a 2.5 year old Garmin Instinct. It does everything I need in a "smart"...
A couple things I do that help my knees:
Losing 30lbs (also just helps with life in general)
Cutting out processed foods and vegetable oils (inflammation is no joke)
Correctly performed squats (I follow the Starting Strength squat model)
If I eat something with vegetable oils or is typically...
How much snow did you run into in March (I may already be thinking of another R3)? We did a 3 day R3 back in mid-April of 2019 and ran into a bunch of snow on the North Rim.
The only two parts that felt extra long were heading through The Box towards Phantom Ranch. It felt like the ranch...
It's been a minute since I've checked in on here. You guys are killing it with the miles! Well done!
October shaped up to be a decent month. 110 miles/18,000ft of vert added to my year. I didn't have any hunts planned for October, so I opted for a Rim to Rim to Rim run with a friend. 18 hours...
I've been all over the place with weight. I've been consistent in the gym, but mileage has been suffering.
I was 214.2 this morning. Did an 18 hour 8 minute Rim to Rim to Rim two weeks ago. Felt pretty good after figuring out my electrolytes halfway through. Was down to 210.4 on Friday morning...
I picked up a no-mag earlier this year. Very happy with it and the shock cord works well. I've had no issues with the cord and items in the side pocket. Plus, you can fold it half open to use it as a phone holder if you're going to be sitting and glassing for a while.
I picked up a Bull Dog Double Dog target earlier this year. I have about 3500 shots into it and just recently turned it around to shoot the other side. It is a field point only target. I haven't picked up the rebuild kit, but will probably be ordering it by the end of the year to rebuild the...
I have a breakaway 5400 bag. I think it shines for 5-10 day trips with a more minimalist gear list. Plenty of room for food and bulkier cold weather gear. It can pack down for shorter trips, but it's not ideal.
I think 4800 would be another good size, but I opted for a little more room, It's...
Depending on weather:
Borah Tarp for early season solo trips or Guardian if hunting with a partner/inclement weather expected.
Borah Bivy
Hammock Gear 20 degree quilt
Thermarest Neo Air XLite pad
Possibly a Matty McMat Face if it's going to be colder.
If we're planning on being mobile, yes. If we're heading into an area for a few days, I'll take my Ruta Locura carbon poles and use those to set up the tent.
Aeropress Go if I'm going to take real coffee with me. Self contained, easy to clean up, and reasonably quick coffee that tastes great. Otherwise, BRCC instant or the Trader Joes Instant work for me.
We hunted during the 2nd week of September last year. No issues with bugs and we were using floorless tents. Camped around 8-9k feet.

I have about 200 shots into a high roller (50/50 split of field points and broadheads). It's holding up very well and I only have shot one side so far. No experience with the Reinhart, but it's holding up much better than my delta McKenzie target did with broadheads.
I'd go Beartooth. It's easier to make a bigger pack smaller, rather than a smaller pack bigger. Just be cognizant of what you're packing to avoid over packing the bigger bag. Plus, you'll have the space should you want to stay out longer on future hunts.
I'd only recommend the Sawtooth if...
I'm still hovering around 212-214. I haven't been training as hard or following a diet very close over the last couple weeks. I'm glad I'm figuring out how to maintain.
Today's weight: 208.6
