    2nd Amendment Arguements

The language of the day, clear to the founders, is a source of misunderstanding and befuddlement for many otherwise well read folks these days. At the time of the writing, it was understood that all men of age were subject to militia service and needed to come armed. It was also understood...

    Anyone using mecate reins?

I mentioned flat hat but I forgot to add stampede string. Cool goes to the next level when you have a stampede string.

    Wyoming shed hunting season.

A good time was had by all: https://www.jhnewsandguide.com/valley/feature/wyomingites-feast-on-a-resident-only-festival-of-tine/article_3caacae2-0bd8-11ef-a321-7b702da41d91.html At least from the resident perspective.

Hunting Big Game with Man’s Best Friend

I've not tried it but I would love to. I've watched several fascinating videos on YouTube about scout dogs in Vietnam. These were German Shepherds that alerted, not tracked. The things they did were amazing and their bond with their handlers was incredible. I'm convinced a Shepherd could be...

Wildlife reintroduction - why only predators?

Are you referencing the Great Smoky Mountains National Park elk reintroduction? Because that was a federal reintroduction, not the State of North Carolina.

    Wyoming shed hunting season.

Opens tomorrow. Wyoming residents only until May 8. Non-residents can be out and about, but not picking up sheds, marking sheds, stockpiling sheds, hiding sheds, steering resident friends to sheds to pick up on their behalf, etc. The proposal was hashed out here a year or so ago. I seem to...

    Mammoths ....... in Yellowstone?

If we actually get up to hunting someday, I’m going to write a book. My title will be, “Death In The Short Grass.” This is like “Death In The Long Grass,” only the grass isn’t as tall. Hopefully, the estate of the late, great Peter Hathaway Capstick won’t sue me for plagiarism.

    Mammoths ....... in Yellowstone?

I'm sure a few folks here will opine that a 6.5 something or other can handle it. Karamojo Bell, you know.

What would you say is the wildest part of Colorado?

What are the Ute reservations like? In both pristine remoteness and access.

The cartridge for the next 30 years….

I admire high power/service rifle shooters. At 600 yards, the 10 ring is what? 12 inches? It’s not every shooter that can put 20 shots in it. It doesn’t sound impressive from an arithmetic standpoint to some of the “long range” crowd to put 20 shots into a 12" circle at 600. It's 2 MOA, no...

The cartridge for the next 30 years….

Trip again and fall into a 7x57. I’m not a .284 man myself, but you obviously need a 7x57.

Want a canoe, know nothing about them

Good considerations. I feel that a 16’ Mad River Explorer is a good all around choice. Having said that, some will have good reasons to go longer or shorter, or with some other style or brand. Still, if you’re starting out and are unsure what’s best for you, the 16’ Explorer is a solid place...

Wolf lawsuit against US Fish and Wildlife

The opposition also has realistic images. They're anxious to use them. And they're far ahead in the PR battle. It just keeps getting worse, with new stuff coming out daily...

Food Recommendations for staying full and losing weight

The old school bodybuilding "cutting" diet is steak and eggs, cooked in butter, morning and evening. A simple salad with oil and vinegar should be added to the evening meal. Once or twice a week a high carb meal is added to make energy levels jump back up. Vince Gironda was the man with the...

    Shooting prone

Pay attention now, because I'm a seasoned antelope hunting expert, having killed exactly one. I shot it at 300 yards, kneeling, off of shooting sticks. The sagebrush in the area I was hunting did not permit a prone position.
