Sure, but in the vast majority of those instances, a firearm would not deter the bite. Bites mostly occur because people are unaware that a snake is even in the area.
My bluetick ate a Hot Hands chemical handwarmer once. Didn’t know it till it came back up. The stain is still in the carpet at my mom’s house. He lived another 8 or so years after that…
I’m 30 now. Started looking at the sheep game in my early 20s, and even then, it made more sense for me to just save up/throw some money at raffles. And the raffle bet has paid off once already.
No idea - I believe Huntin’ Fool sells an unlimited number of tickets. The drawing itself was two years ago, so I also wouldn’t be surprised if the number was higher now than then.
Finally getting settled in to the day-to-day!
As per above, our first day of hunting was fantastic. We caught up with a the same mature ram twice, and I shot under him with my bow. He didn't seem too spooked, and we suspected we'd catch up with him somewhere on the mountain range the next day...
Caught up with him again this afternoon. Put on a perfect stalk and just had to wait for him to head our direction.
The mountains here look open when you’re glassing from the valley, but they’re thick with brush when you’re on them.
Ranged shooting lanes at 30 yards. The ram popped up quick...
For those who travel (fly) to hunt regularly:
In the past, I’ve used TSA-approved padlocks and zip ties on my bow/gun cases. My new bow case has built-in locks, however. Are those alone sufficient, or should I add additional locks?
That’s the Tricer GTP-RS (https://tricerusa.com/collections/all-products/products/gtp-rs) paired with the Spartan Javelin. Gives enough height to shoot sitting or on a knee, and I’m already carrying the trekking poles anyway.
Ohh that's perfect! Mine too. They told me meat doesn't come back - what did you hear? That was my first question lol.
My firearms paperwork wasn't back from the Mex government yet, so I'm forgoing taking my own rifle. I was planning to take both my bow and rifle, but this makes the decision...
Some insight:
Kiwi changed ownership about 5 years ago, and the folks running Forge bought a controlling interest in that company 2 years ago. They own that group, and they have facilities in NZ and in WY.
