I agree with the above, "photos are more important than the mount".
Body propped naturally making the animal look relaxed, not as if would be in pain if it were still alive

Position yourself to portray about 2/3 emphasis on animal, 1/3 emphasis on hunter

This year I drew my first Muley tag for my home state, and put together a nice backpack hunt with the help of my dad and best friend Ben. We went in a ways and after a couple days of seeing more bears than deer, I decided to kill this buck- the 3rd one we had turned up. I shot him twice behind...
Last few hunts I have left the Softshell at the truck and carried only Merino, Super Down, and Chugach jacket- even though wet weather was not in the forecast. In my opinion for the weight you get much better all around protection from the wind and cold with the down + hardshell. The noise of...
I'm sitting here right now in one of the new, unwashed Merino branded short sleeves and there is no itch at all. I'm usually sensitive to Merino itch too, which goes away after a wash and dry. This one is good to go as new though.
Got my first this morning on a solo hunt in the Sierras. He was the third bear I saw on this trip and the first I was able to get a shot at. Put him down from 279 yards, followed by some photos, skinning, quartering, and a couple mile pack out.
Thanks fellas.
bighouse, I've got an article being done up in a similar fashion by an outfit called "In the News".
I think I'm going to get a few long straight aspen trunks about 6-8" in diameter and hang them on the wall parallel at an angle, and then mount the framed photos to them in a...
I'll be there this (next) year. Pretty much the same type of guys you see at most other shows, just dressed a little nicer. I'd recommend it to anyone.
Anyone have any suggestions or examples of nice ways to display photos in a trophy room? I'd like to display an 8x10 photo of each of my bucks/elk/etc. The initial idea is to get an 8x10 matted wood frame for each one and cover a whole wall, but there's gotta be some more intriguing...
Here you go. Just get about a 1/2" of one leg into the far pocket, then push the other leg inward while pulling the bag toward you by the Velcro strap. The frame leg will flex just enough to get into that pocket.
If it's the 2012 frame, then it will seem as if the legs on the frame are a couple inches too wide to go into the slots on the bag- but they are not. You need to compress the legs together (toward each other) in order to make it fit. That way once they are in place the bag is nice and tight on...
