Lower energy arrow weight for Sevr 1.75

Arrow Build Easton sonic match grade 340 cut to 27.25" with 50 gr brass inserts, 3xmax stealth vanes and 125 gr sevr 1.75". Estimated weight is ~420 grains and ~15% FOC. I figure a short arrow with 175 grains up front should be plenty for deer.

Broadhead report from the past week

It isn't glamorous but the innovative outdoorsman channel posted a video on how to sharpen the stinger buzzcut and black hornet serrazor including the serrations. I can vouch for the process as well.

Lower energy arrow weight for Sevr 1.75

It looks like the 420 grain arrow is pulling ahead with the 460 grain a close second. Between those, I'll probably go with the lighter build for a flatter trajectory.

Looking for RX-7 Ultra Spacers, HBX pro cam

After installing the black shims on the bottom cam the bow is shooting bullets with 2 different arrows and a bare shaft. Great success

Looking for RX-7 Ultra Spacers, HBX pro cam

I appreciate the help, a local contact was able to get me the shims. I'll try to install this weekend and report back.

Looking for RX-7 Ultra Spacers, HBX pro cam

I found that exact chart. I'm a left handed archer, getting a tail left tear. With my rest set at 13/16". I had to move out all the way out to 1" to get a bullet hole and to me that is unacceptable. Current shim configuration from the back of the bow is both thin Grey spacers on the left side...

Looking for RX-7 Ultra Spacers, HBX pro cam

Rokslide team, I am looking for some bow tuning assistance. I picked up a used RX-7 ultra. It has the Grey shims installed but won't shoot a bullet hole unless the rest is near 1 inch from the riser. I found a tune chart and it says to install the black spacers but I'm not sure which kit to...

Lower energy arrow weight for Sevr 1.75

I have already hunted a few times with sevr and at least with a mathews style quiver, I haven't had any issues with premature deployment--nobody wants that-- My old bow is a mathews I just haven't put the sevr through a deer yet.

Lower energy arrow weight for Sevr 1.75

I appreciate the data points. My only archery deer were all killed with magnus stinger and buzzcut 2/4 blades at 60 lb, 28.5 in draw and 342 ibo with arrow weights from 430 to 495. All were pass thrus including 2 scapula hits and one that exited the ball joint and split it. The split bone was...

Lower energy arrow weight for Sevr 1.75

I bought it knowing full well it will not be a speed demon. Hence why I'm trying to lighten up my arrows to keep a flat trajectory. I posted this poll because I want to know what arrow weight I can get away with. I expect the bow to be smooth and forgiving--things I value especially in the...

    Argali Knives?

Another vote for the argali carbon. I have used mine on white tail and mule deer and it works great for skinning, and quartering. It strikes a nice balance between a more swept blade for skinning and a finer blade for detailed work. The texture on the grip also keeps you safe when things...

    Ears cut in half

I have heard it can be owls too. When the deer are bedded and just moving their ears sometimes an owl will attack the ear thinking it is a small critter. The talons are pretty darn sharp and ears are thin so it might be plausible.

    Weatherby or Bergara?

Weatherby MK v groups. I zero with a 2.5 inch offset at 100 yards. One click down after the first group. Then checking cold bore against the zero on a different day.

Lower energy arrow weight for Sevr 1.75

And your pass thru hits were ribs and lung hits with a 2 in mech? I don't expect to zip right through the scapula and shoulder blade with the sevr 1.75 like I did with the magnus stinger. The practice feature, amazing flight profile and slick locking design made me Curious enough to try the...

    Weatherby or Bergara?

I have two Mark V weatherbys and I can recommend them. Both were easy to setup and shot factory ammo within my normal accuracy range. (.9-1.3 MOA) One is a big dumb 6.5-300 that weighs 7.2 lbs with the scope and sometimes surprises me by shooting 4 rounds in a clover. If I have cleaned them...

Lower energy arrow weight for Sevr 1.75

Assumptions: - These are not giant corn-fed midwestern deer. I will only hunt deer or turkeys with this arrow. - Bow setup is an RX-7 ultra drawing 28.5 inches and 62 lbs. - I regularly pass shots on deer if the angle is not ideal. I usually get rewarded with a chip shot later. - My aimpoint for...

The new bows are out. Time for me to pick an old one

I agree with you that mathews have not advanced significantly past the V3X line becuase that was where you can leverage the bridgelock sight and low pro quiver. My hunting bow since they came out has been the V3. Just a few days ago I was able to get a lightly used RX-7 Ultra for just under...

    2025 Mathew’s Bows

The most exciting thing about the new release is the new grips. They are compatible with mathews bows 2019 and newer, so I can swap out the side plates and tape shenanigans. So Vertix, VXR, V3, V3X, Phase 4 and Lift users all benefit. As a guy with a press at home I prefer as few things that...

Would You Sacrifice Speed for a Slight Bump in Kinetic Energy?

If you want a fairly simple calculator to get you in the ball park try this one. If you start with a known chrono speed and weight of arrow is stays pretty close to accurate. Errors occur when trying for super heavy or super light arrow velocities...
