When do you own the area?

I'm beginning to see where some of the bad attitudes and resentment against other hunters is coming from. We really need to try and get along. There is a lot of growling going on LOL.

Idahoans do not like out-of-state hunters

Never had any issues when hunting out of State. I normally keep to myself wave and smile. Usually get a wave back and sometimes later they come by and chat. I am okay with that. In my home state when hunting public land I am more than happy to point others in the right direction. I know...

BH209 Loads: Anyone Shooting Less Than 100 Grains?

The original PO wrote. "Ive shot 100 grains BH209 and decided this is going to be the year I drop charge down to 80 grains. I've found 100 grains is a bit overkill for plain ole deer here in Tennessee. Anyone using sub 100 grain loads? 100 grain loads in my Accura MR recoil like a 3.5" magnum...

    Knives

I have read about and tried many knives recommended as the best. However, most did not feel comfortable, were awkward did not hold an edge and never made me happy. I do a fair amount of skinning. As I do trade on E-bay a lot. I buy vintage knives (some new) to try out. If one of them meets my...

BH209 Loads: Anyone Shooting Less Than 100 Grains?

I shoot 77.2 grains by weight. I'm surprised about all the concern about recoil and certainly would not compare the recoil from my TC Encore Pro Hunter to a 3.5 mag shotshell. Shot my Benelli with a 3.5 and decided never agian as the recoil was harsh. Gave the rest of the box away. Now with the...

When you find a game camera in public land

Should always be A but I truly hope there is an old well or mine around for someone that messes with someone else's property. Seriously, I cannot understand someone stealing just because it is on public property. I have had multiple items picked up and taken: even a milk crate once that I had...

Have you ever had one of those days...............years?

Snuck into my blind one time. Field was just full of deer. Got settled in and went to load my rifle and no bolt. It was evening and the drive home was about 40 minutes. Just got out the blind and without looking back walked back to the truck. Yes I know the feeling!

How did you guys who had no one to teach you get into hunting?

My education was mixed. My father was a country boy and grew up hunting rabbits and squirrels for the supper table. He taught me about small game but very little about Big Game. I hunted hard for several years with minimal success. My cousin who was a Dairy Farmer invited me to hunt with him. I...

Careful what you wish for! TC Encore questions

Certainly an older post but I cannot resist replying. I own a TC pro hunter Muzzleloader. I have killed several deer between 200 and 250 yards. This is basically my limit although I shoot paper out to 350, no issues. I did not care for my trigger at first. It was heavy at about 4lbs. I...

    Odds of killing a wolf

Just my opinion: but I think wolf hunting in the lower 48 has not matured yet. As the media and forums start to discuss wolf hunting there will be more participants. If one truly wants to hunt and harvest a wolf the best odds are Canada hands down. Should be about a 50% chance on a 10 day hunt...

What’s the max POI everyone sees when you remove your muzzle break?

Pulled brake off my 300 Rem Mag and shot 1/2 inch high couple weeks back. I forgot how much that thing kicked: brake went back on quickly and was again Sub MOA. Normally with brake it kicks less than my 243 win.

    What’s your biggest bobcat?

Shot a 25lb bobcat couple years ago. He kept hunting around the edges of a hay field. Spotted him first time heading into a thicket with a rabbit in his mouth but I missed him with my muzzleloader. Next time a deer came out same thicket like a rocket. Just knew a big buck was behind. Nope it...

One Place and One Species… What and Where Are You Hunting?

I like any type of hunting and trapping but if only one species? It would have to be coyote. Hunt them year around. Coyotes are smart, challenging and pure fun to hunt. Thankfully I don't have to choose just one species.

    Creepy experiences in the backcountry

This type of thread is going to be very popular. Normally I find the responses from non hunters or "city" folk that have little outdoor experience the most interesting and hilarious.

Idahoans do not like out-of-state hunters

This day and age you need to be thick skinned. Be like a salesman take the good and shrug off the bad. I blame a lot of the negatives on social media. Bad influence of on people.

How much hunting ammo do you have per caliber?

They probably have figured it out by now LOL. But we all know that social media is intensely monitored. Why give them more tidbits then necessary?

Anyone here deal with back pain???

Exactly what I am currently using: flexeril and hydrocodone 325's when needed. Don't need any addictions though and you have to be careful about dizziness and drowsiness when operating equipment. Also exercising and getting ready to lift weight but not there yet. Fixed the problem once in same...
