Prefer no pistol grip. Been shooting this gun for several years in Canada and Wyoming. Not sure what type of experience I need other than a good sock recommendation.
Looking for suggestions on a stock for a 300 Rem ultra mag. Prefer a chassis style and relatively light weight. Must have aluminum bedding block and be solid. There are just so many choices out there I am confused and hate to make a bad choice. Current wood stock is way too heavy even though it...
Can't figure out why so many feel the need to trash a guy trying to make a living and apparently enjoying what he does. I enjoy hearing different views.
Lot of creepy stuff going on all the time. Just makes the hunt more exciting after taking the proper precautions of course. Normally I don't trust ANYONE. LOL
Lack of shooting practice, nerves and excitement are probably big triggers in poor shooting. Precision shooters by which I mean guys that like to tinker and hand load are probably the best at taking game.
The ones that only hunt a couple weekends a year and seldom spend time at the range, if...
Gotta love the internet. Most on here would criticize their grandmother for little else to do. Ron is dumbing things down, sure, he is also making a living. Most gun stuff is directed toward the shooter that kill's his critter under 400 yards young or old fudd or not.
Talking about all the...
I think you are correct not to attach the clamp to the barrel.
I have recently read about how to stabilize the tripod by supporting the legs on YouTube as well as another poster (swavescatter).
Going to shoot this evening to test.
Hands down the 30-06 for me. Large selection of bullets, powders and simple to reload. I lost the thrill of experimenting with different powders long ago. It's the same with bullets. I want a rifle that puts down game solidly and that I am used to. Nosler Partitions have worked very well for...
Thanks for the tip. I will insure the legs are stable and its pushing back on two. That should stabilize hopefully.
I have always shot moa off a bi-pod and was very disappointed in this Bog tri pod. but then like everything else will take time to iron out the bugs.
There seem to be tons of information on the Bog Pod Death grip but I have not found any to address my issue. Bought the Death Grip a few weeks ago and have shot off it several times. Problem is I can not get consistency. I have tightened everything up solid and comfortably. but groups look like...
Hunting Apex predators is truly exciting. I have hunted bear, wolf and Mtn Lion. Well worth the effort even if you don't score. However, realistically I would only hunt wolf in Canada. To much politics in the US and a planned hunt could be cancelled at any time in lower 48.
A good animal to...
I thought about this post today. I was removing a tree stand so loggers could cut out a section of pines. I cut the strap holding the the stand with a home made tree pruner. The resulting tension drove a bolt into my hand. Impressive amount of blood.
First aid kit was a half mile away in my...
I will try the milk weed. There is the option to hunt it under a different wind then the normal SW. Might try that. The elevation just gives such good shot opportunities even far out into the hay field. Thanks.
This is a funnel in a hollow that resides between two hay fields. Elevation drop is about 300 ft or so. Hollow is heavily traveled and leads to a food source several hundred yards up. I am aware of the thurmals but believe they would not be an issue with a steady wind.
There is a bench on the...
I once asked my cousin what he thought about killing deer. He told me I just don't think about it and that works for me. But there can be hang ups as in today's society and social media. These platforms will do your thinking for you and influence your every thought and you are not even aware...
I have dragged deer, packed them out and even tried to carry out one on a stick the way indians used to or you see in the movies. Did not work out well.
Now I use a game cart if possible can carry deer and gear. If I am far back in the mountains I will NOT shoot a doe. Have private land for...
