I shoot target hybrids in all my hunting rifles. 6.5 creedmoor, 7 saum and a 300 win. I've shot everything from antelope-moose. Ranges from 10 yards- 986 yards. The results were all the same, dead animals right where they stood. Make proper shot placement and your good to go.
The dew point will work. I wore mine in AK last year for 8 straight days. Like any rain gear, just have to be more careful busting brush. I'd bring rubber and waterproof leather boots, if you can. I'd bring waterproof socks too.
I shoot a Mark 5 on my 7 ssum. No problems with it. Longest shot to date is 986 on an elk. I also have a vx 5 on a 6.5 creedmoor, both track/ hold zero fine. Is there better options, sure. Price for both was to good to pass up. I wouldn't hesitate to get a Nightforce though.
My gun isnt picky, shoots everything great, but ive used 143 eld-x, 140 Berger hybrids and most recently 124 grain Hammer Hunters. To 300 yards I saw very little difference in point of impact.
I saw 4 caribou racks boxed together at baggage claim Monday morning that came Alaska Air. If your flying from Anchorage look at Alaska Trophy Expediters. I talked to him at Lake and Penn Sunday afternoon, seems like a great guy.
