That’s just pairing the inreach device with a phone - your phone. Every message sent through inreach goes into space, hits a satellite and returns to the recipients device - its like magic.
This will work for what your intended purpose is - but many times the sat communication isn’t not instant...
Katanas are a bit lighter and more stretch. I’m an attack fan as well, they’re spot on when stating “when you can only have one pant” - they come with me on every hunt. Even if I don’t end up putting them in the pack, they are at the truck or available.
The Attack’s do snag and get thread pulls...
Yes, the Mtn pants are between Sitka’s Ascent and Timberline pants in terms of weight, warmth etc. They’re definitely heavier than the Katanas; more on par with Attack pants weight but a bit more quiet.
They are pretty durable but have less stretch than Katanas or Attacks and of course do NOT...
Venting on the Kuiu pants are pretty top notch. I’ve had both pants, still have Katanas, if I planned on climbing a bunch in them, I’d pick the Kuiu’s.
Do you have the Talus Hybrid pants by any chance?
Yes - replaced my Sitka timberlines with the Talus. Better overall fit for me with no loss of features AND the ability to vent on the Kuiu’s was great
Interesting question...I’ll kick it off.
Jetstream by Sitka - best soft shell out there. I know there are guys/gals that are NOT soft shell fans, but if you decide there’s a place for one in your lineup, nothing beats this piece, imo.
In this topic, I now have more Kuiu pants than any others...
It’s what this thread is about, courtesy and common decency (or uncommon today). Another example is folks posting their “first elk” pics - they get lots of “attaboys “ and “great elk” comments. Those are acceptable. What isn’t would be “that’s a little small” or “I’d of held out for something...
Only you can answer this question; individual skill level dictates this and it’s different for all.
I have noticed that there are those that are more conservative at these shoots and don’t push beyond their limit and those that will go well beyond what they know they can do. For the later, I’ve...
If you don’t do the builds yourself and know exactly what you want, the black ovis arrow builder feature on their site is awesome. Not the cheapest but I think they’re reasonably priced.
Don’t overthink it. No offense, but pretty much any plan you put together for OK is going to be way less crazy/risky/PITA than CA right now. Safe travels and enjoy the trip
Car camping is very different for me vs backcountry. Backcountry for me is I am hauling everything in my pack. When car camping or base camping where I’m not hiking/hauling far to base camp, I bring a lot more stuff (contingency planning).
For your list above - if car/base camping, I’d bring it...
It’s a personal decision, everyone’s different.I think there’s moving gear (where you’re hiking) and there’s stationary gear (sitting/spotting). When moving, I don’t worry bout windstopper, I’m moving and I’m warm enough. If I’m stopped and not moving for a while, I’m looking for warmth and...
Read between the lines a bit MattB. Nothing “dictated” but the new Pres announced the idea publicly.
Trust me, the committee members, chair and agendas have been ready for months
Dropped by Scheels today in TX, new M7 pants and jackets were in - they’re real nice!
New de havilland pants (lite) were in stock as well and they were cut and designed just like the original but with much lighter and more breathable synthetic fabric. Also $20 cheaper than originals.
I’m really...
