CO point holders: how have you changed your draw strategy?
I’m in the same boat with 7 NR points. Haven’t really been trying to build CO elk points, just have had other hunts the last few years so I haven’t applied. Trying to figure out the best archery unit to use them on now. A lot of options in the 2-5 range that I’ll be looking into -

Backpack recommendations for Hiking with little ones
I use my Kifaru frame and 3 compression straps. Much more comfortable than using the shoulder straps and belt that the carrier comes with- HoytHntr4

Smoked Venison backstrap
I usually season with kosher salt & Traeger prime rib rub (one of my favorite rubs for venison). Throw it on the grill or smoker until it reaches 125-130 IT. I use a cast iron with some butter on my Turkey cooker burner to sear it on each side. Slice and serve, turns out great every time- HoytHntr4

Wyoming Point Question
Depending on the unit maybe one of you could pick up a reduced priced cow tag to have in their pocket the same time the other has the bull tag, then flip the next year -

Was disappointing when they decided to drop all colors except for Ranger green. With the move to Wyoming I would have expected more color offerings. I believe their reasoning was it was the best selling color, which I just interpreted as it was the easiest way to maximize profits -
Frontal shot on whitetails
I have taken one whitetail frontal. Like others have said, the shot is risky and things need to be perfect. This buck was on the uphill side of my stand so he wasn’t too far below me elevation wise. Hang it in the shade unless it gets about 50 is my general rule. Unless you’re flying there is no reason you shouldn’t have coolers with you in my opinion- HoytHntr4
