So this is the second time a bear has come to my cow moose calls up here in Alaska. The first time was a picture perfect scenario, I was cow calling across a large open meadow with hundreds of yards of visibility all around and the bear came out into the middle of the open from 500 yards out...
I head out in 6 days for my annual 17 days of 'vacay' in the greatest place on earth...... moose camp! Good luck and keep your heads on a swivle out there everyone!
I've found that when its cold it doesn't seem sticky at all. If I re-apply in the field or add to a new spot I throw it in my sleeping bag with me before I get up or stick it close to my body for a bit until it warms back up.
You can stomp off after a few scattered bands and by the time you cover 5 miles you see zero caribou for days, or you can stomp off towards a section of land completely devoid of life signs and by the time you cover the 5 miles you are surrounded by thousands of bou. Caribou are where they want...
