Find out where the winter range is. Google the herd reports for that area. Drive around on the SxS until you start seeing some deer..then dive in. Good luck, sounds like a fun hunt
223 vs 25 creedmoor yes. Was a decent amount better with 223 but don’t recall the numbers. The 6cm is a new thing for me but so far I’m enjoying less recoil even though it’s only about 25gr of bullet weight difference, it’s noticable.
I can see where you’re coming from.
To summarize:
Small is better camp argues shot placement trumps all else. Less recoil equals better shot placement, follow up, etc in field conditions. While a bigger bullet may destroy more tissue, it does not necessarily make up for bad shot placement, and...
If our paths end up crossing in a few weeks, you’re welcome to shoot off my RRS ascend. I’m not convinced that tripods are the answer but I’ve certainly given them a good shake. Slower, more stable…not a substitution for getting stable quick and killing shit.
The 25 creedmoor is a ballistic monster for the recoil it generates. I’ve been shooting one at steel and animals almost exclusively for the past few years and have been happy with the terminal performance.
Recently built a 6cm with exactly the same components and the same weight. Both are 10...
Last year had to go to a somewhat random unit for mule deer due to high number. Had never step foot in it before.
Showed up and killed a nice buck.
Got an even worse number this year..had to pick a new unit and hopeful for the same luck!
Zero issues with Idaho’s system, it’s working just...
Couldn’t agree more. Hunted a new unit in Idaho this fall. The unit is known for being super crowded and “terrible” deer hunting. Scouted for a couple days before season and killed a good buck. Helped my buddy kill a 160” deer the next day. We hardly saw anyone off a road. I have zero issue with...
Long shot, but looking for an RRS ascend center column with the platform, no integrated head. Just need the short section actually. Let me know if you have one that needs a home.
You’re telling me that you can call the wind well enough to KNOW inch/mph?? You’re either world class or full of it.
Either way looking forward to your participation in the cold bore challenge this year. Sounds like you will do great.
Ever shoot in the wind, Fred? Or range the bush 20 yards beyond your actual target by mistake? There’s a huge difference between executing a good shot and the bullet hitting where you want,
when shooting stuff at longer distance, it really, really helps to see exactly where you hit…have you...
Really? You have a bunch of experienced shooters on here telling you it’s the best stock they’ve shot. What is your deal? Are you going to buy one and try it or just crap in this thread?
If you have an instapot (spelling?) you can get those shanks super tender in like an hour. I like to saw them into a few chunks to get more of the marrow out while it cooks.
