For sale is a semi custom 6XC. This rifle is built off of a trued REM 700 j-lock action (circa 2004ish). It was originally a 22-250 LVSF that I bought brand new and shot out. Some good friends of mine trued the action and rebarreled it to 6XC. I’ve probably put 500-600 rounds through it and it...
I agree on the night hunts. Lots of folks are selling them but I’m not a fan. Dos Amigos and I both can point you in the right direction.
I’ve guided nilgai hunts on 2 of the largest low fence ranches in the state as well as good, solid high fence country. It’s one of the last really good...
Nice work my man and a big congrats to you for raising your boys right and getting them out in the woods.
The fudlore in the nilgai community in south Texas runs deep but some of us in the nilgai business are trying to change that. Any modern bullet, placed in the correct spot will subdue any...
For me it’s really hard to tell even when seeing it in person sometimes. It doesn’t snow where I live but soft substrate like mud tends to make the critter look bigger than they actually are. I’ve seen really big bobcat tracks make you think you’ve got a lion.
I really like the Altra Lone Peak mids. I agree with the above post about the lacing system but as they break in, they get much better/easier to lace and they are super comfy. They are my daily work shoe and I doubt I’ll ever go back to anything else for daily wear.
Part of the experience is being able to look at, hold and admire your trophy for the rest of your life after your knees have fallen apart and the hard hunts aren’t doable anymore.
For a normal person with normal income, taking a $10-15k hunting trip and not getting your critter home is tough...
USFWS is the go to for finding out this info if you live in the states. I would guess that Canada has a similar governing body but I have zero experience with them.
Basically, if a critter is listed as CITES appendix 1, importation is banned (exceptions apply sometimes). CITES appendix 2 would...
Keep in mind that just bc that was their species list does not mean that they were all importable into the USA as hunting trophies. Not only does the source country have to issue the export permit but our USFWS has to be willing to issue the import permit.
The example that most everyone will be...
China does/did have a super abundance of mountain game with several unique species and lots of country unexplored by modern westerners. I’ve hunted pretty close to the Chinese border. The mountains are incredible and vast to say the least.
To answer the question posed, USFWS is a big part of...
I’ve hunted Africa many times and have enjoyed every trip to every country even though each place has its pros and cons. I think everyone who goes should experience “real” Africa. No fences, no running water, no electricity, lions and hyenas in camp, etc. I recommend Mozambique and Mashambanzou...
So pumped for you my brother!!! Wish I could’ve been with you but your write up was perfect and made me feel like I was. Congrats again. Hope to see you on Texas time soon.
I’m still missing a paycheck that never showed up from 2002. Another check got lost on its way to me in May of this year. It showed up about 2 weeks ago. USPS is super random and annoying but what do we expect from a government run business, efficiency? 🤣
