My wife had ko3’s on her tundra for 42k, then the Falken AT for 43k, now had had toyos for about 20k, all 3 seem smooth, quiet and getting good life (very little off-road)
I go through tires way faster on my baby pickups, but currently have ko3’s on my new taco and ran a set on my zr2 (both of...
As noted, stronger material and versatility. I like 175gr total up front, so I like a 50gr insert and 125gr heads
Just depends on what you’re looking for. I don’t like being stuck to heavy heads and light inserts, there are a lot more options for 125gr heads
I’m just gluing everything together...
@spearo
A lidless 3600 will give you the best head/brush clearance too, when I’m not using the 2200 elk hunting, it’s a 3600 with no lid, and that will likely be all I use for elk going forward for that reason
I put the lid in the bag sometimes when I just want more organization than the...
I’m not following
What are your concerns about hauling meat without a lid? I have put my lid in my main bag when hauling meat when I just wanted to get going, having a lid isn’t necessary for hauling meat
Are you talking about attaching a head to the pack?
I had a 3 stage chefs choice stainless sharpener, and it did a good job, and lasted for a long time before the springs wore out
What i didn’t like was it made me lazy and I wasn’t staying practiced sharpening a knife manually so when it died, I went back to diamonds, stones, ceramic and a strop...
I’m 6’ long legs, not very long torso, and I have the 25” and head clearance seems as good as the 24” kifaru, of course that changes regardless with a full bag and lid, but the frame itself has really good head clearance for 25”
I’m going to get the longer stays to use after archery elk season...
It will be a metcalf with a yeti logo for 750$
I haven’t a clue, but if they self sabotage, I won’t miss them. I think the pop up is pretty genius, but it seems like the people who make it don’t really understand their own niche, and what makes it a cool and unique design, so I don’t really...
I think all of the switchweight cams are stiff drawing, but also linear and smooth, just stiff drawing compared to other bows.
I like the draw cycle on my lift, and that feel is getting more common lately, which isn’t bad, but takes getting used to for me
At the same draw weight, a mathews is...
I have never elk hunted with a rifle, but my wife and lots of friends do. My wife uses a 6.5 creed, it’s a savage UL in an xlr with a swfa 3-9. Wish it was a tikka but it hasn’t given us any trouble yet, and it does shoot very well
The other elk gun is a 20ga slug gun with Hornady sst slugs...
Depending on the season, archery elk in September this year, 19# all in (no weapon/binos/etc)
Later season with my wife, 34#
Those are the only recent actual weights I’ve taken, but it’s fair to say it fluctuates between the two most of the time.
I could always shave some weight there, but I...
Oh no, I’m smarter than everyone else, I would get the win
(Disclaimer, I first typed “then” rather than “than” but luckily caught it so my credibility is still intact)
That’s funny, I also have a forky on my bucket list. Roosie forks are rare creatures. I passed one years ago opening morning, first couple minutes of light opening day at under 10yds, but I let him go because he was in velvet (and I wanted to hunt more than 5 minutes)
Years before that I had...
I know I have made a bad shot from losing zero, liver shot a buck a few years ago, ended up shooting him 4 times not understanding what was going on. The last shot I decided to shoot him in the neck to get him dead and that shot ended up being a good shot behind the shoulder, other 3 were back...
I have packed enough meat in the bag to know I don’t like it, it’s a messy pain in the ass. I want a quick, easy to access and secure load shelf.
I still put a contractor bag over the game bag for the trip to my pickup, but it almost always springs a leak somewhere, so I assume blood will cover...
I’m with ya. Hoyt is always solid, I have shot them more than any brand and never had a problem, I even liked the Hoyt’s on the years that most didn’t (I would have zero issues shooting an rx1 for the rest of my days)
I also seem to prefer the only Mathews that have problems (chill era and...
