You really can't lose at these prices. Even if you end up not liking it or finding something better, you can still sell it with no loss of money at a later date.
I don't have exactly what you're asking about but similar. I have the Midas g1 8x42 and the Cronus 15x56. The Midas binos are pretty good (comparable to Vortex Vipers), but the Cronus is definitely a step above. Better color and clarity.
I'd go with the Cronus 10x42's.
I think the yellowish hue isn't noticeable to me because I'm surrounded by pasture full of yellow grass. The trees have all dropped their leaves too so the ground is carpeted with dead, yellow leaves. Not a lot of color variation in my environment this time of year.
I just got it in the mail today and haven't mounted it yet. I probably won't ever drop test it because the rifle it's going on is a discontinued/ short run model that I don't think I can get parts for. I'm just going to rely on swfa's bombproof reputation and call it good.
Earlier this evening, I did a low light test of the 3-15's reticle and compared it to a few other Swfa models.
From left to right:
- Tikka w/ 10x MQ
- Remington w/ 3-9x MD (set at 9x for test)
- Aero Precision w/ 6x MOA
The view of my back pasture has me facing West and the ground slopes...
I just want to let people know, if you've been on the fence about getting a swfa 3-15, don't hesitate any longer!
Like many people, I've been waiting a loooong time for my backordered 3-9's to come in. I had researched the 3-15 to see if it would be a suitable replacement but a number of people...
Before I knew about drop tests and how sensitive scopes were to vibration, I was a fairly successful elk and deer hunter with an old savage 111 and a Tasco 3-9. Every animal I shot at died. The rifle was dropped many times and I almost always continued my hunt without re checking zero. So why...
I know you weren't mocking him. I wrote that simply because I know that others will, just like you pointed out.
I've read just about every thread on Vortex that's popped up here in the last 2 years. I wouldn't even try to dispute what others have experienced with their scopes. All I know is...
And for the record, I could care less about selling my scope. The truth is, Vortex makes scopes that perform just fine for the average hunter. The average hunter isn't taking 600 yd shots at game or hiking thru the shit. The average hunter is likely taking a leisurely stroll to some spot within...
While I understand where you're coming from, you should understand that not everybody is traversing slippery mountain sides. When I lived and hunted in WA, I was always having accidents with my rifles. Since moving to the Midwest, I've yet to drop a rifle, shotgun, etc. The ground is flat...
I have a Viper HS LR 4-16x44 that I'd be willing to part with. It was on a 7mm with only a 10 day hunting trip of use on it. I've fired about 240 rds with it, dialing to 315 yds max, numerous times. So far, it's been spot on. PM me if that sounds interesting.
Fwiw, I probably get the same...
Well shit.... I appreciate you guys testing and filming. I'm not surprised at how things turned out but still disappointed all the same.
Good thing I bought one of the swfa 3-15's a couple days ago and have four of the 3-9's on backorder. I'm gonna peel the other Helos off my 7mm and throw a...
Tikka, Bergara, Howa, or Ruger. All will be accurate enough for giving the deer hell a few times a year.
Like someone else mentioned, .270 ammo is starting to show up on shelves but isn't widely available yet, nor is there a variety to be had.
I'd go with .308. It's always on the shelf and...
