    Arrow Weight?

Mine: 72#, 26.5” DL, 442gr TAW, 252 FPS. I think a well tuned bow and great arrow flight with anything 400gr and above will get the job done. Super heavy arrows do not provide much grace for miscalculations of yardage. Once great arrow flight is achieved, people should focus on really sharp...

    Bow slings???

Kifaru Gunbearer. Holds the cam great. Quick access. Carries weight on the pack/hips. Can be adjusted so that you can use the top cam to rest your binos when glassing without ever taking the bow out of the holder. I’ve even been known to ride my bicycle with the bow in the gun bearer.

    WTS Beware Possible Scammer

Hope they Ketchum. I wonder if that's the same Earl that walked into Bubba's barn. Bubba saw Earl dancing naked in front of his John Deere. Bubba says "Earl, what are you doin'?" Earl says "Me and the wife haven't been doin so good in the bedroom lately and the therapist said I should do...

100gr Muzzy Trocar 100gr magnus stinger buzzcut 100gr Magnus Black Hornet 100gr Sevr 1.5 Judo All fly great! All are hand sharpened and then stropped on leather and metal buffing compound. Stupid, hair-popping sharp. Can’t get my knives as sharp as my broadheads. I use sandpaper for broadheads...

My First Elk Hunt: A Short Story

Great story!! My favorite line, aside from your satisfaction in your elk partner’s smile following his success: “If there was an Olympic event for time to get off a horse, Walt would be bringing a gold medal to America.” I hunted off of horses for many years. That line brought back great...

Video-How To Elk Hunt Dark Timber!

Great video!! I’m pumped for the season. Last year, my advertising sequence on opening day in late August, heavy timber, brought in three bulls. One of them literally ran over the ridge on a dead run and stopped within 20 yards of me. By then, I was 30 minutes into the sequence. I let the...

Thanks, Paul. Great opportunity. I’ve had your app for a long time and it has been immensely helpful. I have been using it quite a bit but didn’t even notice the link for the webinar. Thanks for the heads up post.

New tree stand set up on elk trail

Kifarucast just did a podcast with Cody from Lone Wolf Custom Gear. If you're looking to learn about stands and how far technology has come, it's a good podcast for that. Saddle hunting on this particular podcast doesn't get much love. I've done a fair amount of climbing / arborist work and...

9mm for bear protection, even grizz!?

That’s a really good point. I shoot pistol a fair amount but have never shot with my release on. But I got to thinking more about it... I am left-handed, shoot a pistol left-handed, but shoot a right handed bow. So for me it’s perfect! G 20 for me in the woods in a Kenai Holster behind my bino...

Backcountry meat care, this vid never gets old!

That’s so funny. I would hope my partners and I would never do this but if we did I would hope to laugh that hard. Hilarious.

    Heavy arrow setup for Elk

Don’t forget a SHARP fixed blade broadhead to go with a tuned arrow. Sharp broadheads are underestimated especially with lower weight arrows, short draw lengths, etc.

How many days to you devote to an elk trip?

You can’t say that with “Rambo” in your ID. I’m changing your reply to: “I Want Them To Know That Death Is Coming, And There Is Nothing They Can Do To Stop It.” In all seriousness...8-10 days is great, especially in the backcountry.

    Scared of Down?

In an emergency, I once climbed into a synthetic, nearly hypothermic on a knife ridge with no where else to camp. I was completely dry in the morning - clothes and all. I’ve heard of guys doing this in the new down bags including WM products. True?

    Archery Terms You Hate

This is in reference to the 2023 bow models that will have a small reservoir for diesel to help your arrow gain FPS when it’s in “launch mode”. At least the manufacturers know that the diesel in the current market is crap and will require a tune in order to operate properly. I’m ordering an XL...

I just dry fired my bow

My hunting partner dry fired his bow in the middle of a hunt - not on purpose, of course. String needed to be replaced since it came apart in about 3 pieces.. Shredded it. All else was good. He had a back up bow - thank goodness. You guys saying it happens to everyone makes me nervous (knock...
