I'm booked sep 23 for ibex in the naryn area. I haven't heard of any closures as of yet. Hopefully they keep it open, fingers crossed. Just sent the outfitter a message, he's local in kyrg so hopefully get a response soon.
I'll be at dsc convention in 2 weeks. Hopefully get to try on sg dehavilland pant and kuiu axis pants.
I know the axis are fleece lined so thinking warmth won't be an issue with base layer in 30 degree windy weather.
Would the sg dehavilland be warm enough in those conditions with heavy weight...
Going on a hunt in krygzstan next September. Temps should be lows around freezing highs in the 50s. Usually fair amount of wind as well. Will be horseback several hours each day.
I'm thinking of kuiu axis pants with zip off FL furnace 350 zip off base layer, I already own the furnace base...
I guess you guys don't shoot matches and it shows. Everybody checks zero at 100yds before a match. There is no perfect scope that will track perfectly every single time and hold a perfect zero for life.
I've shot/owned every single high end scope manufactured, cost no object. Leupold hasn't...
A simple short answer in my opinion if you want to build a light "ish" weight hunting rifle with one of the scopes you listed.
Vortex razor- too damn heavy, the amg is very nice and i own one.
Leupold mark 5- What i use in comp and on my primary long range hunting rifle.
March- never used one...
There are several reasons for checking zero. If your barrel has sped up, if you got a faster lot of powder, altitude and big temp shifts. Zero needs to be checked for several reasons beyond a scope not holding zero due to manuf. issues.
Comp world is not demanding? That's pretty funny. My scopes have rash from getting slammed, propped, wedged against steel and wooden stage props.
I still own several nf scopes. I ran some of the very first nxs scopes that were released. Nf are great scopes.
The competitive shooting world is very demanding. If the mark 5s holding zero and not tracking was an issue nobody would run them.
I've owned just about every high end scope made. Schmidt & bender, zeiss, Khales,nf atacr, nf nxs, vortex gen 2 razor, leupold mark 5, zcs. Only one I haven't...
Well I have 3 mark 5's that hold zero and track correctly. I know several shooters who run these in prs comps, my self included. Also know folks running marks 5's on elr rigs and long range hunting rifles.
I shoot mine in comps and they don't get babied. My rifles don't even get carried in hard...
6.5 prc makes great sense for long range hunting, creedmoor doesn't. I shoot a 156 berger a little over 200fps faster than a creed with a 140. That's a big difference in energy at distance. It kills everything! Its a great round that can be used for a very broad spectrum of hunting. Less recoil...
I've been shooting long range comps for several years. I started long range hunting 20+ years back. I bought a nightforce and put it on my hunting rifle, people didn't have a clue what nf was. Putting a 10x scope on a long range hunting rifle is just dumb in my opinion. Why handicap yourself...
There are no new calibers that are leaps and bounds better than the cartridges of old. Updated case designs and lots of marketing hype. I built a 6.5prc for for more efficiency/cheaper to shoot round. My primary hunting rifle was a 300 norma mag.
The 6.5 with 156 berger has killed a few truck...
Get the 20x scope. I run a 7-35 leupold mark 5. I never shoot animals at max magnification. Usually 15-20x as conditions allow. I zoom up to 35 and really look over animals antlers/body. Higher power is also great for zeroing and load development on paper. I don't know one single person that...
Neither, I think the 6.8 will be out of style eventually. Not a huge following so limited factory ammo. 7prc should've never come to be. The 6.5 has a big following and i see it being around for the long haul. Very important if you depend on factory ammo.
I shoot a 6.5prc 99% of the time. If...
