I
got my rcbs small base dies off Amazon yesterday. They’ll be delivered tomorrow. There’s actually a lot that chamber the round. I got my barrel from ritchesprecision. It’s got an 8week lead time. But I’m ok with that. Rancor makes prefits. I’ve seen prefits on gunshack.com ershaw chambers...
Just look at the cost of brass at the very least. I just got a 14.5” 6x45 barrel ordered. It’s probably going to replace my 14.5” 223 as a truck gun. I’ll stick with 70-85gr bullets. 300yds and in it should hammer a coyote dead
Once my 300win mag barrel gives up I’m going to rebarrel to a 7mm practical. I’ve already got brass and petersons brass is pretty easy to come by. 90 bucks for 100 rounds isn’t bad. And it’s an easy form to get the 300 brass ready. I’ll be running an 8tw and looking at the 193/195gr bullets.
I grabbed a couple pounds of longshot to run these 165gr gold dot pulls I picked up. I did a good bit of looking for data. On forums and from hodgons site. I seen a lot of mention of 9gr getting 1330-1350fps. That’s fine with me.
i loaded 9 and 9.5gr after seeing hodgons data.
I also found a...
I’m using the 240s because I got them cheap. .711 is a pretty solid bc for them. I could push them up a lot more than what I’m doing now. I want a good bullets that’s not a buck a piece ideally. I shoot my rifle a lot. I’m sitting at 3600-3800 elevation
I’d say no. You won’t gain much with them. You can push a 308 pretty hard if you want some
More range or a bit flatter trajectory. Out to 600m I love the 155gr amax. The 168/178gr stuff is pretty good for further shots.
Yessir. SAMMI chamber. It’s a factory sendero 1-10tw. It really likes the 240gr smk. I’ll grab another box of these this week and do some more playing with them. Gonna have to find a suitable replacement for the 240s. I’ve only got about 450 of them left. Plus my loaded ammo. I should run these...
Finally was able to get out with the 230gr ATIPS
Nothing great. But I think the 71/72gr charge can get cleaned up with some seating depth. These are set pretty long. They still wouldn’t fit in my magazine. They definately started wanting to do better as they were getting faster.
I only had 24...
I seen a few post here about this combo but they were all fairly old.
Seems like nobody ever really got them to shoot well. Only ones that did were running a PRC
I got a couple sample packs a couple months ago. Then realized I needed the stem and another Hornady die.
I generally shoot 240gr...
People have always complained about the belt on the 7/300mag rounds. Like is some flaw in the matrix. 7rem mag is a great round. You can play with powders and bullets. And push it harder. Get some good brass. I got rid of my 7mag about 5 years ago when the 162gr amax bullets started drying up...
Well. Labor Day say cheap psa purchase, turned full upper build and seperate lower is complete…
Still have the psa faux dissy gonna be dropped off Thursday. So gotta figure out something to do with it.
BCM blem upper. (Holy crap this was the tightest upper I’ve ever had to install a barrel on...
The 190s are at 3.340. The 240s are about 20 thou off the lands. Generally haven’t had to much change in groups with sierras and seating depth. The cold bore shot just about always shoots a little left in my rifle with the 190s. I’ve not shot the 240s closer than 500m lol. I’ll probably get...
Messed that up. Don’t know how to delete.
300wm I shot out to a grand with the 240s. Only loaded 25 of them to play with. 5 at 70gr and 20 at 66gr. Played with sierras accuracy load a bit. Then went back to my 190smk load I normally shoot.
Little range time finally. Getting some speed on the 300bo. Playing some more with the 240s in the 300 win mag. I really should give them a load work up. For random charges they shoot pretty well. 500m they stack on top of each other. And they sound amazing hitting the steel.
I picked up a 500ct box of 240gr smk I was going to just shoot up as subs in my 300blackout.
I decided to shoot some in my 300win mag. They do pretty well
I didn’t do any load work. Checked to see how long they are in my barrel. They touch rifling at 3.619”. I loaded them 10 thousands off. And...
Personally. If you’re looking to do a custom. Look at brass availability. I’m building a 7m practical. I’ve got a bunch of petersons brass already. Easy transition. I shot a 7mag for about 20 years. Now I’ve got a 300 win mag to get me over until I get a barrel and reamer. I’ll order my barrel...
Totally was picturing blazing saddles reading that😂😂😂. Thanks for the welcome. I’ve been shooting since I was 5 basically. Reloading since 2006. Big calibers, small calibers. And wildcats. I love them all. Newest rifle is a Remington sendero 300wm I’m playing with
