I’ve owned about 4 different FoxPros and the xwave has been my favorite. I may dip my toes into the Lucky Duck water in the near future. Can’t speak for them yet, but I’m sure they work great too.
Looking into buying swagger bipod for my coyote gun. Figured I’d ask if anybody had some experience with them first. Or what are everybody’s favorite shooting rests for predator calling?
A .243 is more of a multipurpose rifle than the .22-250. A .243 would be awesome with a 58gr v max. That being said, either will work. That being said, a coyote is not going to know if it was hit by a .243 or .22-250. Both are good.
I’ve been calling for a few years now and have only called in one lion that I know of. He, a big tom, actually came into a grey fox distress sound. I think with lions you’ve gotta just be in the right place at the right time. More luck than anything.
I’ve never shot one out of a tree but I’ve got a buddy that runs hounds and he knows a lot of guys that’ll kill them with 22lr/22mag. I’ve always thought a .22 hornet would be great for those states that require a centerfire for lions.
I run either a Howa 1500 in .204 or a Savage Model 10 Precision Carbine in .223 (shoots three shot groups into on ragged hole at 100yrds). Can’t use thermals here in AZ so they are my day and night guns. Has a 20” barrel too so it makes it easier to maneuver for a bolt gun.
