LRI is by no means grumpy, and their turnaround is pretty quick. Great progress reports too. Good things ain't cheap though.
It does suck shipping off your action though. UPS will no longer do it. I had to go thru an ffl last time.
Those measurements will decrease when using a ball mic. 0.0165 neck walls seems very thick depending on manufacturer. My Lapua brass measured 0.015 to 0.016 when new. Alpha 0.014 to 0.015.
As stated it's been available very recently, and stupid expensive as are all the Alliant powders since Jan 1. Vihtavuori is a good suggestion. Available and at @ 2/3 the cost.
I thought Bartlein recommends only using a solvent for carbon. If there are traces of copper in the bore, it's actually a good thing. And they say skip the brushes as well, if you're using any.
More than 12. How are you cleaning it? Mine started to settle down and tighten up at around the 50 round mark. By 125 +/- speeds have been pretty stable.
Velocity loss is going to vary based on your powder and bullet weights. If you use faster burning powders it may reduce your delta to some extent. 2 inches less doesn't seem like a lot, but adding the weight of an adaptor and suppressor on the end of a thin barrel is going to change the...
VP9SK is on the California roster. Seriously, if she holds one, she might not want to put it down. They ship from the factory with the medium back strap and medium side panels, so keep in mind the grip can be made smaller (or larger) side to side and front to back.
Trigger is pretty good...
Do you like the action/stock/trigger? Would you be happy with just a rebarrel?
If you're currently limited to lighter weight bullets, and the recoil is already unpleasant, it will only get worse with the same cartridge and heavier bullets. Do you need a magnum, or would something like a 6.5...
As much as I like my P365, it can be difficult to load those magazines even without achy joints.
Revolvers by design have more recoil than anything with a recoil spring so I would rule them out. Look for something in a convenient size she will carry, with low recoil, easy to load mags, and...
Of the .284 LRX bullets, the 139 is supposed to open up with the lowest velocity threshold (min. 1400 fps) according to Barnes. The others require a min. 1600 fps. If the 152 matches the 139 in this regard I might try it at some point. Otherwise meh...
To me? Nah. My Swede already trounces the Creed and is already overbore enough without a magnum bolt face. I guess the one definitive conclusion here is factory ammo blows goats.
I don't own one so just going off comments I've read here and elsewhere, but I've seen multiple references to 6.5 PRC factory ammo producing roughly the same velocity as 6.5 CM factory ammo, which makes me think why bother?
I use a couple different options:
1) Forster full length sizer, expander ball removed. Mandrels to expand the necks. This way gives more leeway on neck tension as you have multiple options on mandrel diameter.
2) Redding body die with Lee Collet die. The collet die sets necks to a uniform 2...
