If it makes you feel better I was in that unit working yesterday and saw three deer. I wasnt trying to find them either. They are there it just takes some work like all units. I'd say go for it and enjoy the hunt.
The fit of the dehaviland I feel is perfect now. I wear a large normally so I ordered a large and it fits over the clothing I needed it for. Was also impressed with just the jacket and a first lite wick underneath in the low 30s while hiking.

Theres a lot of youtube videos and articles on how to pack your pack. Sometimes you got to play around and figure out what works as well but you can get 8 days in that size for sure.
