How do you balance shooting with fitness

I don’t have much for targets, just a bag and a block for broadheads to make sure everything is flying right, but I shoot up to 100 yards at my house at my little bag target, right down the driveway. I can shoot 200 or so with a rifle, but that’s not what the thread is about. I go to the gym 3...

    277 kill anything thread

Best thing I ever did was thread my .270 mountain rifle. Enjoyable to shoot even being a fairly lightweight rig. SPANKS everything it’s ever been pointed at.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

My 9 twist savage stabilizes them good enough at sub 1k feet, shoots surprisingly good groups for being a $300 rifle. That was this spring at 40-50 degrees or so. Need to test again at 20 degrees or so to know for sure if I would trust them hunting. Just in case it doesn’t I have a separate...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

They were on cabelas/bass pro for probably a two week period a couple months ago.

When is it time to upgrade?

Sounds legit, I’ll check them out for the next set!

    A few suppressor questions

It threw me for a loop for a second too As someone who has absolutely no business speaking on the topic, we are in the same camp on this one. Especially when you are adding (and usually roksetting) a 5/8 adapter or muzzle device onto the muzzle. But again, I’m not a metallurgist.

When is it time to upgrade?

Yeah that makes sense, unfortunately I’m poor and just bought some gas strings off the shelf, no custom job here. My bow is just barely out of spec and everything looks normal, it was only pulling 78 lbs last I checked so not a true 80 or 80+

When is it time to upgrade?

I have a V3X-33 that I love and have let the air out of a few critters with, I personally wouldn’t “upgrade” for a few more years. I put strings on it, and twisted the cables to get 80 lbs out of it, it’s a great bow and great shooting bow. What I may do at some point however is get another...

IDFG Investigation into Unit 6 Grizzly Shooting

Begs the question, doesn’t it? Why other than that do you give the blackie in the first video that’s blatantly bigger the pass to shoot the bear that’s obviously immature and smaller a couple days later? Maybe it was last light on the last day of the season, interesting scenario for sure.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I will be playing with the ARC as well before long if I can find a barrel cheap somewhere, not that I’ve found anything wrong with the Nosler. I love my AR’s for this kinda stuff. So easy to add another cartridge or setup to the stable. You can shoot something totally different with minimal...

    Curious on bullets for moose

I’ve had great luck personally with Barnes bullets as well. I have tried the other side of the coin with the ELD-X/M esq bullets the last couple of years and they work really well also. Honestly they probably work better for my purposes and the way I am shooting things, but I wouldn’t hesitate...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Yeah that all makes plenty of sense, in my case the investment is small (maybe a couple hundred bucks into an AR barrel?) even if it does crap the bed eventually. As of today there is bulk nosler brass on midway for about $1/piece, which the 250ct bag would probably be enough for me to hunt...

Would a side arm be necessary? Also what caliber?

I’ve brought one along once and before long it was in the bottom of my pack. I wouldn’t bother, but that’s me. I would be more inclined to want one on the road trip to and from the mountain if you have to pass through and get gas in sketchy areas in the middle of the night than actually want it...

    A few suppressor questions

Can’t speak specifically to the Superlite, but I had a local smith thread the muzzle on my .270 mountain rifle to 1/2x28, and I rockset a stainless (barrel is stainless) 1/2x28-5/8x24 thread adapter to the end of it. Maybe I am lucky but I have had no issues running my .270 in this format...

IDFG Investigation into Unit 6 Grizzly Shooting

I’m not necessarily talking bad on the guy that shot it, moreso the Fish and Game. From the videos presented it’s more than obvious that it’s a grizz and not a black bear. Theres no question with the hump and the way it walks. If he would have shot it at the end of the video I would be crap...

    My hunting grounds and stands

Fun stuff. I do the same, but usually it’s a slick head. This year I drug an old camper that I found on the woodlot (bought my land as just a woodlot then built my house on it a few years ago) out back so it’s not such an eyesore, from there I can shoot out across my brook and up towards the...

IDFG Investigation into Unit 6 Grizzly Shooting

Even the black bear in the first video knew it wasn’t a black bear. I could see the blackie saying something along the lines of “that guy is a lot smaller than me but for some reason I feel like my life is in danger” before he hightailed it. Small black bears bullying the big ones at bait...

IDFG Investigation into Unit 6 Grizzly Shooting

If you watch the first video long enough the blackie is run off by what is very obviously the sub adult grizzly in question.

    Curious on bullets for moose

I agree. I see little 10-12 year old girls tipping big bulls over here every year with .243’s. Just about anything 28 or 30 cal is more than enough IMO, they are many times heavier but only a little bit wider than a big whitetail at the lungs. Out of what’s in my stable I wouldn’t ever bother...
