NM post-rut rifle hunt - What to do during "midday lull"?

How did the Hunt End up last year? Ill be heading there for Archery Season this year. Ant pointers would be greatly appreciated!

How did you Fair on your NM Unit 49 Hunt? Im heading there this year for Archery Mule Deer. I've never hunted this far north in the state. just looking for how your trip went. I can Pm you if you prefer

Drew the Archery Mule Deer in Unit 49 this year. Not my first choice but why not try somewhere new. I've hunted Unit 45. Any areas of particular interest in Unit 49 i should focus on? I've been hiking around the Angel Fire area, of course i wasn't hunting so i really wasn't paying attention to...

New Mexico Unit 45

Anyone hunted Unit 45 yet this year? How's it looking? I ask because I leave in three days to head up and hunt for Mule Deer. Oct 26-30. I know there's already been a couple seasons and the Elk hunters just finished up as well. Anyone spot some Nice bucks out there?

Thank y’all so much for the help and advice. I’m stoked about the hunt. The wife not so happy. But it’ll be alright. If anyone is ever down around the Texas Coast, Galveston to Port O’Connor area let me know. I’ve got a good boat and fish often.
