Montana guys… Any issues with e-tags last year?

Be aware that the app obviously records the date  and time that you validate. So, if you kill at last light and forget to validate until you're packed out or home the next morning, your submission will reflect this. Doubt it would ever matter so long as you'd otherwise harvested legally?

Is the western hunting bubble bursting? (Or at least shrinking?)

I never looked for it, because for the first half of my hunting career I insisted I figure everything out myself with as little information from outside sources as possible. I've since relaxed that constraint done, and in any case i guess there's no reason to expect self sufficiency to rank...

Is the western hunting bubble bursting? (Or at least shrinking?)

I bumped into two pudgy 30 something guys in brand new absolutely EVERYTHING, First Lite, whatever boots the go hunter's last video was about, flagship bows, etc., near an archery spot I've spent at least 100 days scouting and hunting. No doubt one of their pieces of gear still had a tag on it...

Is the western hunting bubble bursting? (Or at least shrinking?)

I hunted balls to the wall for 12 years before I found this website.

Elk hunting the Bob Marshall wilderness

I would consider it. I have rafted pretty extensively back there. Let me know if you want to discuss.

    BOB bike trailer mods

Thanks! I try to beat the mountain bike club trail clearing Instagram show into my town trails.

    BOB bike trailer mods

I have a BOB set up for my 27.5" hardtail (pic attached). It is the rigid one, i.e. no suspension. I ride it on both roads and single track. I'm wondering if people have modified BOB trailers to haul certain equipment more securely. For example, I have blurry visions of a custom lightweight...

    Good one

I used to do residential construction. Once on a remote job site a coworker scooped a fresh roadkill jackrabbit off the road and tied it to the undercarriage of another coworker's pickup with bailing wire. Everyone else knew; the feeling in the air on the jobsite over the ensuing days as his...

Any boxing fans? Thoughts on the Tommy Fury-Paul fight?

Growing up in Chicago I used to attend golden gloves cards in person with friends and coaches (just trained, never competed). That kind of ruined me for watching boxing on TV. But a memorable lightweight fight I watched recently was Teofimo Lopez vs Vasiliy Lomachenko a while back. The speed and...

    Anyone own a Subaru?

I bought my 2001 outback with 150k mi for $4k from a small auto shop with a side business buying blown up subarus, replacing the timing belt assemblies, planing the heads down and replacing the gaskets, and reselling them. It just rolled over 225k mi and functions flawlessly (other than that the...

Black Diamond Cirque 22 vest pack review

Agreed, I think it'd be awesome-- might just have to prototype one myself!

    Lowa Tibet

I think you will be glad to have them, especailly as you add other boots to your lineup over time. They are excellent for certain terrain types and climates. But they are pricey at MSRP, so makes sense that one might decide to sell them to buy something lighter/more niche. I oil and waterproof...

    Lowa Tibet

I have ~500 miles and untold vert each on pairs of Tibet High GTXs and Hunter Evo GTXs (basically same boot with 200 g thinsulate). They have served me well and owe me nothing. Both stopped being fully waterproof after about 300 miles, and the rands are peeled off quite a lot. I have a high...

    Quitting Alcohol

I quit drinking "as an experiment" in 2009. Every part of my life improved dramatically, so I never started again. I've gotten into so much cool stuff that I would never have even known about if I continued drinking. If you feel any inclination to stop, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Cutting trail is legal here, but I agree--I wouldn't cut out an existing trail because it would be too likely to be discovered and used by other people. This zone never had a trail in the past.

I think it was for these reasons: It ended up being much more difficult to day-hunt than I anticipated because of travel time and an unreliable vehicle I have yet to upgrade. So I've tended toward more highway or at leat mainline accessible spots. But, when I have time for multi-day hunts...

Thanks. I know few other people personally who cut their way into areas, so it's cool to hear you're perspective. Animals definitely began to use the trail in years 2 and 3. I have often wondered how it might change animal movement in the area generally. I cut 3.5 miles of ridge that was...
