    Sidelock muzzleloaders

Every gun is like a person, an individual. What works "best" in yours might not in mine, even when it's the same make and model. You started down the trail correctly, trying out different bullets to see which work best in your gun. Now you have to tweak the rest of the load, brand, granulation...

    Another annealing question

Is this stuff worth the $$ ? If you don't use it, how do you know when it's done ?

    Dumb question

Need to specify - that's with real black powder, like Goex Pyrodex is far more corrosive and will probably rot out the barrel

How to deal with CO Wolves

You can also look to the east coast and the seal population to see what's in the future. Seals received "protected status" on the 1970s (remember the clubbing baby seals for their fur campaign?). Now the population has exploded and is so completely out of control that it's affecting fish and...

What are the differences in "Small Rifle Primers" #400 vs #450?

If the recipe calls for standard primers and all you have are magnum, do not load to maximum ! The magnums do burn hotter and will cause a rise in pressure.

    Tried and failed at casting

I pour for BP and for metallic. Get a cheap electric burner from your local thrift shop to heat the mold and keep it hot. If you're using pure lead add 2% tin. The tin will help it fill out the mold better. The small tin amount will not affect the hardness enough to notice

    Dumb question

It is far too common to have people come in wanting to sell an old muzzleloader fully loaded with patched ball that's been hanging over the mantle for decades. They're always shocked it was loaded. The loaded area (after stripping out the load) is never any more corroded than the rest of the barrel.

Building an annealing machine - ideas ??

Working on ideas right now. Saw a few things searching here, unfortunately they all would require an electrical engineering degree and a fully equipped machine shop. I need to do this with my moderately equipped wood shop and no ability whatsoever with electronics. I need to build something...
