The limitations of a big lead hollow point

You often get better penetration of a hollow point at a slower speed. Cranking it up causes too much expansion too quickly, fine on whitetail and yotes, not so much on larger stuff.

Dont be like me, buy a range rod

YES !! I've been saying that for years !!!! Have you had the pleasure of a stuck ball yet? I shoot traditional flint and I've done it twice, once due to stupidity and once because there were two cleaning patches on the jag, not one, I left one in the barrel, had no idea until I couldn't get the...

How can I like the taste of venison

My wife doesn't like venison but she'll always eat it two ways, burger in chili or some other kind of big pot dish, and (my favorite way by far) Philli Cheese Steak. Chill a roast almost but not quite frozen and drop it onto a slicer and slice as thin as you can get it. Krup makes a cheap home...

RVing off grid in bear country - buy a 10mm or a 460 S&W ? Considering the legalities of semiauto in all 48 states.

Great video, thanks! I already have an RIA .45 1911 (base model) that I'm very comfortable with and is capable of handling +P rounds. I cast and reload for it and have a lot of components for practice and plinking - obviously I would load FMJ for the bear woods. This gives me an excuse to...

If I go 10mm it would be a 1911, Stubby fingers here, have issues with the thick grips that come with double stacks. My Rock Island 1911 in 45acp fits me perfectly And at the price of 10mm I definitely will be rolling my own. Last I looked they were pushing .80 cents a round. I already cast and...

Interesting, I've never once heard the term used the way it's listed in those links - just a guy who prefers lever, pump, revolver, to semi. Do you know a single active gun owner who is indifferent to gun rights? I certainly don't and I live in NJ !! And yes, 30-06 is better that 6.5 Creedmore...

I learned something, I, and everyone else that I know that fish in Montauk, always believed that it was furthest east - guess not And Ak - going west, to be the furthest east, is cheating LOL

Slow ? I'm not sure what you mean there. Slow on the draw? That would be a matter of the barrel length. Slow meaning regaining control between shots? (I get that) I would think the loud and the flash would be a good thing even in the case of a miss to scare a critter off.

And NJ, Illinois, Maryland, Washington State, Oregon, Ca., even NM and Va are starting to tighten down. Yup, revolver is the right choice.

I haven't really put much thought into .44, and the Ruger Super Redhawk is one of my favorite guns that I've shot (but never owned)

No it's not, a Fudd is the opposite of a Tactard, would rather a revolver than a Glock and a double barrel over an AR. Nothing to do with gun control - Elmer was pro gun

We have a lifted 4x4 27' Leprechaun we plan on doing an "explore America" trip with. We will be doing some off grid, likely some in bear country. I already have a Keltec K7 bullpup 12 gauge for around the campsite but I'd like to get a handgun to carry for hiking and to have on me at all times...

    Price no option, Best Muzzleloader?

Wait, I take that back, there's a .50 cal flintlock in the museum room at Chambers Rifles in Ashville NC that is the most amazing piece of functional art I've ever seen (and fits me like it was made for me), Tiny roses inletted on the barrel with yellow gold leaves and rose gold roses. The...

    Price no option, Best Muzzleloader?

If I could have any muzzleloader I wanted, price be damned, it would be an original Herschel House Kentucky flinter. Rifled, .54 cal, iron mounted with silver embellishments.
