Updates: My barrel is 24" with 1:9 twist.
I think I have a good load for the 160 AB (see attached photos). Not necessarily the fastest, but you can't argue with the consistency.
Next I'll work on the Hammers.
Thanks for the feedback on the LRX. FWIW, I've got a good load with 150 gr Accubond LR's worked up because that was all I could get my hands on a while back. I'm just a tinkerer so, I was thinking the extra 10 gr. of the 160 AB's would be a good thing for larger animals. I finally got hold of...
Like new, <100 rounds through barrel. Great for target, varmint or hunting gun. I added a TT Special trigger which is $209. Truth be told, it originally shot just slightly above 1 MOA, so I sent it back to Bergara and their gunsmiths worked on it and now it shoots legitimately <0.7 MOA with...
My favorite hunting knife is a fixed-blade, semi-skinner profile knife. I currently have several including ones from Tom Krein, Bob Dozier, Dan Crotts, and Wayne Hendrix. All are great knives. Here's my newest on from Dan Crotts.
Thanks everyone. Originally, I was only able to find 150 gr ELDX and got them shooting 0.5 MOA, so that's my fall back. More recently, I've been able to procure some 160 AB and 143 HH bullets. I'll let you know how those work with my gun.
Been archery hunting whitetails for a decade or so. Started rifle hunting last year. Also interested in targets like NFAA Field or 3D archery, just learning rifle skills, but will eventually be looking for target competitions, PRS?, NLR22?, etc... Occasionally hunt turkey, dove or clay with 12g...
I'm going to start with the hammer hunters, just because I have some already. If I don't like the results, I will certainly be open to any other manufacturer. Might even go down to 110 gr Hammers, too.
Took the Barnes, Hornady and Sako to the range the other day. Looks like I'll be sticking with the Sakos for now. They shot legit sub-MOA @100yds (see picture , Barnes ~1 MOA and Hornady ~2 MOA with my rifle. I will work on hand loading with the Hammers after hunting season just for funsies.
I have a Tikka T3x in 6.5 Creedmoor that shoots Sako Super Hammerheads (lead/copper) very well, but I was thinking of switching to all copper. What do you think about the following options if all shoot equally well in my rifle? I hunt Eastern whitetails in woods so all shots are <250yds...
Working up hunting loads for 280 AI. Anyone want to discuss relative benefit vs. costs of lighter monolithic vs. heavier bonded bullets. I'm sure this has been discussed a bunch, and I have tried to read older posts on the subject. Heck, I will probably work up loads or both bullets to see...
Anyone have recommendations +/- picts of good, stiff, aftermarket stock for a Tikka T3x that would match my Veil Alpine stock and action. I've searched this forum and found only a couple pictures. Thanks in advance.
Old post, but how does the cheek weld line up with your scope? I'm looking at the same stock. Also, I haave the same veil alpine stock, so it's nice to see that the moss matches very well. The oem cerakote is an odd color.
