Thanks for that perspective. Great way to look at that. I’ve held off hunting this far and been helping pack out and call just to hopefully share that moment with my father.

My dad’s getting older and not sure how many years of hunting we have left. He’s heading out on the 18th to my house and then we head into the woods in Colorado on the 20th until the end of season. Hoping we don’t miss the rut action here in Colorado. Wanted to see your guys thoughts on this...
Question regarding birds. Would you guys get on top of a high point and look for birds? Get down in the thick of it? Sorry if it’s dumb but never thought I’d be in a position using birds to find an elk

Final update as the sun sets on me on this hillside I will not physically knock this tag yet, I plan on coming out here to look for this bull alive or dead a few more times before the season ends. I WILL not take another bull except this one assuming he’s walking, I find him dead the tag is...
Thanks for the input man. Definitely happened fast and I instantly said that was higher than I’d like. I was chasing three bulls bugling back and Forth up the mountain and hit a bench and out of nowhere this completely separate 6x6 screamed at me 35 yards away I stepped into the tree line and...
I’m with you on the pass through unless I caught the scapula on the other side it makes no sense. Even then I searched hard for the arrow with no luck. The way it happened I shot and jumped around the thicket to watch him leave and couldn’t see him there but it was close to POI. About 25 yards...
Back out again this morning beating feet. No birds in the sky or smells in the air other bulls are screaming… I think I’m gonna punch my tag regardless. Gonna give it until dark today before I lose hope. For the guy that asked about my draw length I’m at 70lbs at 29 1/2 inch draw and yes I did...
Little update, I’ve had the wife trying to find a dog all day with no luck. Bull was shot at 714 this morning. Haven’t left the area since. Have flagging tape on POI & blood. Gridded this thing out, still working it now. No birds in the sky plan on staying until dark and then trying again in the...
Thick as can be. Varies from tall grass to swamp and trees as thick as can get. Any thoughts on the blood? Experience with white tails the lung blood is pinkish bubbly and noticeable this is red as can be.

I did grid all morning with another guy. We went a 3/4 in last known direction. Doubling over each spot. I’d say 2.5 inches higher than a perfect double lung.

Shot a bull @12 yards. Hit him a little higher than I preferred. Left/right was perfect just a little high. I found zero blood at POI but about 25 yards down trail I found this small spot. After that there’s nothing I can find. I was on hands and knees crawling around looking for blood. There’s...
UPDATE: covered the vanes in lipstick. Key takeaway here don’t just grab any of the wives lipstick managed to grab a $50 tube of this shit. Rest was covered in lipstick. No riser contact took it in and they said it was “damaged internally” they returned it and I bought a hamskea epsilon. Paper...
Nope that’s the only thing that was changed went in to get arrows cut and the guy at scheels asked to check out my bow and check time I went in and he said “ whoever tied in your rest is dumb” I’m gonna fix it if you don’t mind. I said sure. He just ran the string on the other said of my bow...
