How Have the California Bears Reacted?

Yes. Had a guy shoot a sow within 100 yards of me. Kinda discouraging since I had followed the bear for about a mile before I ever had a chance for a clear shot. Saw 4 on Friday and a TON on Saturday. 2 with cub/cubs. There's more bear than I've ever seen. Let's do our part to help the deer...

How Have the California Bears Reacted?

I live in the D5 zone and have seen an abundant amount of bears lower, earlier than I've ever seen before. We have always had a couple resident bears, but not this volume..

Finding does, just no bucks.

Can anybody give me any advice on this? I've seen about 35 does and 6 fawns, but no bucks in my 2 scouting trips. Is there something that I'm missing? Last year I saw about 20 does throughout the season and only 1 buck that was legal and a spike. Last year I think I was just rushing it...

Ticks - Blacktail in CA and PNW

If you're on the eastern sierras, your deer is most likely to have ticks.. I genuinely believe you can avoid a majority of ticks by the way you walk. Don't drag your feet, and avoid deep bushy grass. I've trampled across a meadow with thigh-high grass and didn't have a single tick on me, but...
