Not for this season. Fairly experienced with compound hinting but that was decades ago and everything in gear has completely changed, obviously. Lost in a sea of choices.
Ideally looking for a sub-$500 bow to start. Looking at the Diamond Edge but open to all suggestions. Also asking on...
Thanks. You're right, and I'm overthinking this. I think somehow missing the last several years brought me to think I need some extra time in these woods, but unless it's totally foreign grounds, and these aren't, I scout while I'm hunting though I do try to get in later winter and early...
We'll be stillhunting and tracking if possible (done some bare ground tracking but mostly on snow - and it's been a long while). Nice tip on the bird covers, thanks. Used to grouse hunt but not set up for in anymore - only rifles (couple handguns) in the home.
Hope to get back into...
Some medical issues this year and I missed my intention to scout the WI Northwoods late winter-early spring. Been 7 years since I've hunted, so have no idea how things have changed up there. I intend to go up and primitive camp to scout, before season opener (11/18), heavy boots on the hunt...
I had pretty substantial skin cancer surgery Wednesday and have had to hold off since then, screaming to get back at it. For an older dude, that's probably testament to how much I value it. Haven't even scratched the surface yet and they seem to keep adding a ton more. Value for dollar, one...
I know what you mean, it's pretty cumbersome. I probably joined after you so don't have anything to compare it to, but I've just been downloading as I've been going, and they're all in my library so it's not a problem, really.
I have a Ruger Hawkeye .338 I got off of Guns International for $825. I'd watched it not move for awhile and counteroffered asking price (Cabela's), and they were glad to move it. It was virtually new, no evidence of more than a few firings.
I don't bother with factory .338 ammo, but then I...
Thanks! My wife and I love to fish for walleye but here it's pretty hit or miss, sometimes we hit on the lower WI river & Black Earth Creek - I hear nothing but great things for it up your way.
I'm half wondering anymore whether it's even worth hunting up in that area any longer, given what I...
Sorry, yes, you're right of course. Among other things my mind is already out west, with memories of black bears all over the place close to camp....and summer....and a long time ago, lol. Coffee. Thanks.
Yeah, I've never seen a bear up there actually and presumed they were fully in hibernation by then. Prudence probably dictates I separate the cooking anyway. I could always add on a shack later.
Thanks again.
Sorry, one more - cook shacks or stations inside the tent. We have nothing to worry about, where we hunt, but there are black bear and wolves. Just when camping or backpacking I've always followed the precautionary practice of 100ish yards away, 10' up/4' away from a tree trunk on an...
Congratulations and thanks for such a fantastic, gripping and inspirational story as well. Respects and kudos to your wife and daughters, and all your great friends. Says a lot about you.
My read through these forums has me definitely interested in a SWFA, but looking around they seem to all be on backorder. Not sure if this a long-term thing, like reloading components.
Hey Cornelius, just wanting to clarify. I've got a FXII on my big bore (45-70) that has stood the test of time but a newish (to me) VX3 on my .338 and after reading through the site, have some concerns. Your first post seems to say your Leu has been abused and held up, but this post mentions...
Thanks, just wasn't sure if I could do that, since I'm not looking to buy or sell here. I'll give it a shot.
Edit: Not sure I can after all - can't give a prefix that fits, I don't think. But thanks.
