For stillhunting and tracking, which is about all I do, I have the Johnson Woolen Mills. They're excellent but too lightweight for stand hunting, imo. I have an assortment of old woolen pants, most of them old milsurp from various countries, gotten cheaply anywhere from Fleabay to our local...
I did search but came up empty - though I'm sure it's been discussed, sorry if so. Likely too late for this year, but with a good chance of it being really cold for our N. Wisconsin rifle hunt, anticipating next year it will be a wall tent and wood stove. Always like building out stuff...
Sorry ahead of time because I'm probably jumping into the middle of something with ignorance, but the one thing that bums me out is that my eyes are pretty much gone, limiting me to scopes. Ask this guy who grew up hunting with iron sights on a Marlin '97, how much he hates scoping his Marlin...
Fantastic, thank you. I am ignorant of his work but in my quick search based on your post, really looking forward to diving in. Much appreciated.
Edit: Just a quick read of his marginal decade page, the end. Man, sleep. I've come such a long, long way, but this one is a tough one for me...
My takeaway is this: Life longevity is a crap shoot. The benefit of exercise isn't so much about extending life, but ensuring whatever years we have are lived robustly. Hopefully, a long, rich life full of vitality and good health, living in a relatively flat steady state belying our...
Tried it for permanent, total body, constant, moderate-to-severe pain (I burn everywhere constantly - it's just going to go downhill with the years). Didn't touch it, but I've heard good things from many others.
Thanks for the thread. Thank god our current lad isn't much of an "eat anything" lab, just rabbit and goose poop if we don't get to him fast enough, but good to know if it comes up.
Agree with JFK and some others have said - core and flexibility is hugely important. I think too many guys think of back strength in isolation, not realizing in a lot of ways the back and abs, hips are a "system" in balance, and when one area is relatively weak, it can really hammer other...
I used to pay attention to resting heart rate but that was long ago, when I was young and a distance swimmer. IIRC it hovered in the low 30's. But then, I was young and swimming 20K daily during peak training (summers) and the rest of the time anywhere from 8-10K daily.
I've long relied...
That's what I was wondering about. I don't think I could, either. Seems they only make the 4A for Europe, but I could work with the FP. I admit I'm pretty much a dinosaur, though. For the field, I am almost positive I couldn't hang with the others.
(Edit - deleted redundant post. I'd...
I know several will do well, just a bit surprised not seeing any mention of the .338 WM. In terms of recoil, personally I prefer it to the .300 WM, but that's just me.
