I would be much more careful who i associated with. Hang with people with good work ethics AND integrity. And of course be more conservative spending money.
A lot of people will just drain your energy or wallet , or both.
My story is only relavent because this is a hunting forum. I am an outfitter. A booking agent sent clients one year an everything went well. The next year was a late booking so no deposit but no problem I thought.
His check for many thousand’s bounced . He bullshitted me along for six...
In the sixties there were only a few decoys around. Old cardboard silohettes of geese. The story was that it was illegal to shoot a duck coming to a goose decoy. It was supposedly unsportsmanlike because the ducks could not resist. Heard it many times.
I recently read an article by an American living in Japan. After the ordeal of getting a licence and a firearm he had a lot of hunting opportunities. I believe you could only use a shotgun for a year until allowed a rifle. He didn’t find it all that difficult.
Hunted alone for many years. Miles back in 40 below weather. Never was concerned but 50 years later would not think of it. Seems to be a combination of physical age and wisdom.
In 67 I bought six duck decoys for 13 $. In 78 I put them out in a slough on my own land. Went back to pick them and 4 were gone. The two left were in deeper water.
In 2021 I was in a local good will type store and there were my four decoys. I always suspected they were not far away. I...
Lostarra is right. I am an outfitter and many people say they would sure like to be a guide. They don’t understand that it is a real job. You are not there to hang out and drink beer with the sports. Time off for a kids basketball game isn’t acceptable. The hunting skills are just part/people...
A heads up for hunters eating their bear. Several people in N Dakota got seriously I’ll eating undercooked bear . It was a black bear taken in Saskatchewan. It had the common tricinosious worm. Cook it to death .NO rare bear.
A moose hunter in Saskatchewan killed a game warden . The warden was driving a red swamp buggy in thick willows. The hunter saw or thought he saw a moose and shot. Warden died. I don’t believe charges were laid. 40 years after the event the hunter still insisted he saw a moose. And I he could...
Our range has drill stem stands. About 4 ft high and 8 ft wide. On the back are welded chain hooks for 1/2 in boomer chain. Each swinger has two holes and a long bolt through chain. Hook on crosspiece. Use two inch bolts and don’t tighten all the way so swinger angles back.
15 years and 100s...
We had a huge cull in Saskatchewan about 15 years ago. Many took over 100 deer . There were trucks piled high . That was mules . I don’t know if it helped . WTD and mules have been up and down since.Right now mules are down locally and WT are poor. We are a hot zone for CWD but hunting continues.
I had a lab who came along on many deer hunts. Deer never seemed bothered if they saw her. Steady to the shot and never made a noise.
Then there was Fritz the pudelpointer. Smart as a whip, also stubborn. He would sound if on a deer or coon. Could chop for hours on a treed coon. I never put...
Canada may require a reason to bring a firearm. Even bringing a .22 to shoot cans at a friends, a note from them will work. A do it yourself hunt: pre buy the licence. Avoid issues!
