Thanks a bunch, I knew about Glock and S&W but not CZ or Barrett. I'm not active duty but my wife is. I'll keep it in mind if she ever thinks she needs something new.
I shot a buddies Ringneck custom grade about a decade ago. From what I remember it was a nice gun compared to everything else out there, but then again I'm no shotgun expert. I do like CZ's though and currently own a few; a 527 varmint in .223, a 557 in 30/06, a 550 in 375, a 75 SP01 in 9mm...
I used to think along these same lines, then I got a pair of SIMMS. They lasted a decade of hard use on the Gulf coast fishing and duck hunting in the salt. Have a buddy or two that guide and basically live in them year round and theirs have lasted just as long,
I've been contemplating a way to rig up an adapter to one of my trekking poles. This sounds like a great set up. I'll try the cheap route first and let you know if I can come up with anything worth a darn.
If you're not stuck on the idea of a Subaru I'd suggest taking a look at Toyota and Honda. In 2009 I looked at Toyota and Subaru, Toyota won hands down. 2015 I looked at Honda and Subaru, same story Subaru was lacking in just about every aspect. 2019 looked at Subaru again and the wife ended...

You can look at any make, model, year and engine options you want. I find these numbers to be very realistic and much more accurate then any EPA stated MPG.
I have three Xbolts. The wifes 7-08 chamber is right where it should be, my 280 chamber is a little long and my 300 WM chamber is very short/tight. We reload for everything so we can just adjust dies and bump the shoulder on the brass back in this type of situation. There are small variances...
With or without a round in the chamber? I'll assume with, could just be a tight chamber. SAMMI spec allows something like .006" of variance and this could make some factory ammo have a tight fit. Did you try more then one type of ammo?
Staffs are much more popular here in Europe. I can see why because they make a great standing rest while stalking through the woods and you need to make a quick shot. I was laughed at by my German and Polish buddies when I pulled out the hiking polls during our Ibex hunt in Spain calling them...
thanks Karl, I'll give them a look. I really like the idea of opening out as well, that's why I originally went with Eberlestock. Really just don't feel like I gained anything but bulk and loss of maneuverability with a harness.
Thanks handler. The Rick Young was going to be my next try, did you experience a lot of bouncing with it? If so, maybe I can find another bare harness without a "pack" to give a try.
I see many posts about how awesome bino harnesses are and how people can’t live without them but is there anyone else out there like me that has tried and absolutely hated them? The way some rave about them makes me think I’m doing something wrong. Admittedly, I’ve only personally owned the...
The Eddie Ba
the Eddie Bauer fleece lined pants are pretty stinking warm. I can sit stationary in them for several hours into the low 40s and if I put on a decent pair of thermals I easily get into low 30s.
Eddie Bauer is one of my favorites, great in the woods and great around town. LL Bean as well, I just tend to gravitate more towards Eddie as I feel it’s just as good with a better price point.
I've lived and hunted in Germany going on two years now. It has become obvious why there glass has to be so good. A lot of hunting is done in very low light or at night and in thick, dark cover. It didn't take long for me to start upgrading my scopes to Zeiss, Steiner, and an old Hensoldt...
Thanks guys. Maybe not a jacket designed to be packable but still looks compressible an light enough for the guy whose not chasing every gram. A few of you mentioned the heavier then normal outer shell, did it seem to be pretty quiet or did it sound like a bag of potato chips?
Thanks TNK. I had them out last night for a pig hunt side by side with my old Leupolds. There was a good 90% moon but I was still in some heavy woods with a thick canopy. It was very evident that the new Steiners were the clear winner in low light. I was able to make out a whole lot more...
