I've bought 2 pairs of Vortex Razor HD 10x42 Binos from Sierra. First one was in great shape, appeared brand new. The 2nd also appeared brand new, but the diopter had come loose. Sent it back to Vortex, repaired and returned pretty quick.
Warranty 100% applies to any Vortex product you buy, no...
Id save the money and go with the smaller setup. Especially if you don't plan to reuse. You can honestly get by with whatever you want, just depends on how important comfort is.
I've been hunting CO 4th season with a $30 Walmart tent for the last couple years, but comfort is definitely...
Found them between 8500-9500. Really just has to do with the area you are hunting. Don't go in with these crazy assumptions that they are only on top of the mountains above the tree line lol
I was up in Alaska in Denali National Park, 0 service. Used the feature several times. Had to wait 2-3 min for a satellite to become available, then I just had to point my phone where it asked me to, and was able to send and receive several texts within 2-3 min. Used it several times throughout...
I have to admit, the new apple satellite texting worked really well. I was up in Denali National Park this last weekend, with absolutely no service up on top of some ridges (The whole park past mile 2 has no service anyway...). I was able to find satellite, point the phone, and within 2-3...

I own the Razor 10x42. Great Binos, build quality, locking diopter, great clear glass.
I checked out the BX-5s in store, and could tell immediately the glass was lower quality, build quality felt cheap, no locking diopter. They were much lighter than the razors in hand. If...
I own the razor HD's, took a look through the BX-5s at Sportsmans last night. Eyecups were terrible, and I personally thought the glass was far below the razors. Build quality also felt cheap compared to the Vortex product.
Not a real comparison, I know.... But if you can tell a difference...
I can only speak for CO bear hunting, but if you can find the food, you will find the bears. I ended up killing a bear this year just by glassing food sources. The berries on this one hill were a lot further along (in terms of ripeness) than any of the immediate surrounding hills. Pay close...
I am 6' tall as well. I bought the Sirui T-004SK aluminum tripod. I had a Viper 65mm spotter and a set of binos I glassed with. Tripod has the VA-5 head (awesome tripod head), i picked this up for 130$ on sale. Great lightweight tripod. Right around the 2 lb. mark.
Definitely give this a look...
Hello All,
Wanted to do a writeup on my thoughts regarding the Vortex Diamondback HD vs the Vortex Razor HD, both in 10x42.
Hope this doesn't seem long winded, just wanted to provide a detailed account of what I noticed. I thoroughly enjoy reading detailed reviews, hope this is helpful to...
What do we think? New Vortex Viper HD Mini 11-33x50 being released. Dual focus, 27 oz. Kind of hits that middle market between the crossfire and razor mini's. Price point is $850 on Vortex website, I would anticipate 500-600 on Cabelas/Bass Pro... I would still be tempted to opt for the higher...
I just bought a pair of refurb razor 10x42s from Sierra for $549. I called Vortex prior to purchase (great customer service btw), and basically was told when customers send in product for warranty, they will occasionally send new product back and resell these (after repair) to companies like...
