    300WSM - Barrel Length Decision - How Short?

    Ran a velocity ladder with Norma cases, WLRM primers, H4350, 185 juggs seated long- 3.065 COAL (gotta love that HCA magazine). 65 gr. gave me 2900fps, and a stiff bolt lift. 64gr. was 2857, with good bolt lift. Not bad for a 18" barrel.

    Just got this one together today. Tikka, mcgowan 1-9” @18” in.300wsm. Spearhead Machine 2 baffle radial brake, Mesa stock, PST 1-6. Hells Canyon mag. Short, handy and nasty.

    twist/velocity for 88 eld

    Has anyone figured out how fast you need to push an 88 eld to have it stabilize in a 1-8" barrel? I have a long throated .223 AI with a 1-8", and I'm just curious. I know plenty of folks have had success with this 22 cm with this twist, but .223's are generaly 1-7" for this bullet.
