I have a copy of Blacktail Trophy Tactics. Got it from a thrift store for a few bucks. Don't think I'll read it again, if anyone really wants it I'll send it to you for the cost of shipping. Read a copy of Haugen's book the local library has, it's worth it to check with them.
So the spot you scouted was over ten miles from trailhead and it got blown up first thing by a bunch of hunters? That is insane, as is packing a deer out 20 miles.
Good to know. It looks like hookworms do not survive freezing temperatures, and after a couple months in my freezer, I doubt he picked them up from the meat he's been eating.
Has anyone had any issues with raw food for their dogs and parasites? I've been feeding mine venison scraps (Oregon blacktail) and he's come down with a case of hook worms. This could be total coincidence of course. The meats been kept in the freezer for a couple months (roadkill deer). I've...
Unfortunately I need to swallow my pride and admit it's my fault. I went out again this morning and did a ton of dry firing, got into a very solid shooting position, and applied an extreme amount of focus. My first three shots are the lower ones in that horizontal line. The next four are in that...

I did quite a bit of hunting in the rain this October and afterwards I always disassemble to dry off the rifle. There's no issue with the lug that I can see.
I also barely ever clean the thing so that's not it. I will check the other bolts.
Not sure it could be weak rear support because I tend...
Been having an issue with my rifle. It's a 6.5 creed Tikka superlite with a swaro z3 3-10x42 and talley rings. Recently I had the barrel cut to 18" and threaded for a suppressor (which I don't have yet) and seemingly that's when this issue started.
Basically it seems like the first time I shoot...
Been finding lots of elk and a few deer. Still figuring out this area and trying to get away from the pressure which is not easy.
What are everyone's thoughts about elk and blacktail sharing ground? Let's say you're glassing a smaller clearcut and you find elk, is it worth it to keep looking...
