How is the eye relief. I have a Nikon and you can't wear glasses and look through it ... your eye has to be right on the occular lens. I need something that has decent relief.
Yeah ... my friend likes his well enough, but when I asked if he'd do it again he said no. I sure didn't like the way it affected the recoil. Less but different ... and for me different enough it affected how I shoot ... not sure that makes sense.
And not to hijack the thread. I was just...
I should have qualified that my boy doesn't shoot with a suppressor and probably never will. Having shot one myself, I don't see the need to ever get one. Fact is, I actually didn't like how it changed the recoil of the rifle...it was different than a brake, at least for me. I may be the odd...
My kid is building one right now ... he's been carrying a 26" for so long he is staying with that (even though I told him to go 22"). We'll see what he gets for velocity and I'll post it. I am interested how much different it will be. What is normal? About 50-75fps per inch?
Always a trade off. I am going to build one with a 24", but a lot of people say that the shorter barrels don't give away that much and are so much easier to carry. Hard to know. I guess when you have carried a 26 with a brake forever, anything shorter seems short ... which might be a good thing.
There are so many cartridges that do things so similarly these days, it is hard to know what to use. I guess a lot comes down to getting the Ammo when you need it. I always see 6.8 when I go to the local shop ... so that is a good thing. Question is whether it will catch on or not like the...
I've never had the cause to have to use either, but I generally carry both. I'd start with the spray, because it usually deters the charge from what I've read. But I've also ready that bears will shake it off if they are determined. So I'd hit 'em with the spray ... and if they didn't...
I don't know if you call Buffalo wild. Seems like most of the hunting of them is not what you'd call "in the wild". But hands down to me the best flavor of the game meats I've tried. Elk is probably second for me. I've done some on the smoker, and when you take care to keep the moisture in...
Well ... l have LOWAs and I like them a lot better than the Danners I used to wear. But to some extent it is always going to come down to you lacing them on and walking around. What is right for some may not be for others. Go somewhere that carries several top brands and try them all on...
Congrats on the draw. My friend puts in for that unit almost every year, and we always see a lot of elk in there. Not the biggest bulls, but still pretty decent. I don't know anyone who works that unit specifically, but I spoke to a guy named Patrick McCarty who runs a service in 8/9/10 and...
So many good cartridges out there now. Many duplicate what others do. Hard to beat something that has great Ammo availability. I recently built a 28 Nosler ... put a lot of money into it ... and can't find that ammo anywhere ... at least not reasonably. I have not started learning to reload...
Well, going by the numbers it "should" work. I tend to error on the side of caution. Just my preference. I feel pretty good at 1500 ft/lbs for elk. Feel really good at 1750 though.
