Don't know how the quality has changed but my dad has been using a Cabelas stuffer for at least 15 years now. We run at least 200lb of meat through it every year with the only parts needing replacement is the seal around the plunger, and its $100 less than the Meat one
you might be able to get away without it for elk but if you do more hunting it gets used a lot, especially with deer that have cuts that are not tender enough to make anything but stew or ground. When you have it you will find more uses for it, try making sausage ect.
