Here’s a quick recap of the last 3 years of Washington highbuck hunts. Maybe the 4th will finally be my year. 😂
Year 1: first year in the back country after many years.
Decided to give the highbuck a go after many years. figured my massively out of shape self could do it despite everyone...
I've been getting mixed messages on this so wanted to see what all you experts have to say on the subject.
Additional question, what do you typically pack extras of. I'm a big proponent of extra socks, extra short base lower and extra long base lower.
That's a pretty personal question, it totally depends on your setup and how you shoot. Personally, my only rifle with arca is my mdt chassis build and I usually mount the rifle behind the swivel stud and find it to be plenty stable.
10x50 are objectively better in every metric OTHER THAN weight / size. But depending on which binos you're comparing, the wright and size increase can be marginal.
Edit: FOV will be diminished, I totally forgot about FOV DOH!
On that note, the Backcountry Podcast JUST dropped a show on...
Back when they first started making radios that had GPS built in that would allow you to see where the other radio was on the screen we had a pair and I lost one. Unfortunately the GPS was not accurate enough to guide me to the radio and my dad was pissed. We were in the frank church at the time...

Using an NXS 2.5-10x42. it’s an SFP in mil or moa (I like mils) . I like the SFP for hunting as the reticle on FFP is so damn small it’s hard to find it when zoomed all the way out. It’s also insanely light weight. Word of caution though, if you have a split rail action, the rings you choose may...
I’ll typically stick to the high buck as it turns off a lot of folks and eliminates road hunters. It’s a tough hunt though.

Thank you! I will not be getting out this fall, we just had a baby 2 weeks ago and I will not be able to get away from the house for the next 6 months or so I imagine.
