I learned a long time ago not to trust my compass on my phone. Some days its accurate and some days its completely off. I just have a compass in my pocket and pull it out to orientate myself with OnX. Its nice to have constant bearings with an analog device in case your phone dies etc.
Everywhere I have seen people say the ergo grip actives have the best articulation in any glove out there right now. Have you had any issues with the durability? Some guys are saying the stitching on the fingers are a weak point but its only been a problem for people that beat the hell out of...
I have shot compound for a while now and rented a recurve bow at my range recently when my hunting bow was getting restrung. Needless to say I am hooked and am looking to get a budget recurve for myself for Christmas this year. It looks like the Samick Sage and the PSE Nighthawk are the best...
That is awesome! I have a 5 year old Daughter that is getting her first bow for Christmas this year. She is really into it already and I had to drag her away from the range the last time we stopped by to pick up my bow.
I have had a pair of Hestra Heli Pro gloves since 2007 and have beaten the crap out of them skiing every season. I had to do some minor repairs on part of the leather from my ski edge from carrying my skis. Beside that they have been tanks. I took them elk hunting this year and they worked...
I second going to a local archery pro shop. I would stay away from Craigslist and Ebay for bows unless you really know what you are doing. Often times a used bow has an immediate $200 charge once you get it to replace the strings and retune. Also, dont go crazy on expensive accessories. You can...
I like pumps mainly because that is what I am used to. It is nice to have in your pack during the day in case you need to refill you water without going back to camp. My Katadyn filter will pump a water bottle full in less than a min so its not a huge time issue.
On a side note, has anyone here ever actually won a KUIU quikly contest? I tried a few buts it not really worth putting in for them, even if I hit the link the second the text comes in I end up empty handed.
Not beer but my brother-in-law and I had some Fireball the last night at camp archery hunting earlier this year. It really hit the spot while staring at a fire.
If you really want a beer to warm you up on a cold day nothing beats a good German Dopplebock:
The irony is Rudolf Diesel invented Diesel fuel to be made from plants so farmers could run their tractors off their crop yields. Then he fell off a ship...
It looks like they are with that discount and the new Venture Divide packs they have. I would 100% go for the Venture 1800 right now for $99. I have the pack in Ash and love it. I like this design more than the new Venture Divide 2000. Having almost endless customization of hook loops is really...
I have never seen it marked. The trick is to zoom in and follow a watercourse and look for little 'ponds' that have a defined line on the downstream side where the dam is. Here is an example of one we sat at for about 8 hours but didnt see anything:
I dont know any myself but if you call Pikes Peak Gun club they have some hunters that work there that know some good processors.
Btw is your username from Lord of the Rings?
When we went Archery hunting in Southern Colorado this year 90% of the creeks I marked on OnX were dry. So definitely take any water sources on E-Scouting with a grain of salt. The only thing we could really trust were beaver dams.
The guy that ran my hunters education class called the OTC CO units the 'Pumpkin Patch" because the orange you see everywhere.
To the OP- good luck! Be aware that there is going to be some pretty open space but also extremely tight Aspen groves. Sometimes its like a maze trying to get through...
