    Pine Squirrels Ruin Your hunt.

Hunting in Southern Colorado for Archery elk we didnt have a problem with squirrels but I swear there is this one type of bird that sounds exactly like a cow elk. After 4 days of not hearing any bugling it starts to really get to your head sometimes.

    Late season back country hunt

Oh man, this reminds me of my days in Boy Scouts having to stab the top of my nalgene in the morning to break the layer of ice to get some water. Tying frozen boot laces in the cold morning is hell too. I agree with this 100%. Having a vehicle to warm up in is going to be a huge factor to keep...

Thanks for the heads up on the arrows. I have about a dozen 340 spine carbon arrows from when I bought my hunting bow on CL but it looks like those are going to be way too stiff.

    Anything Irish Setter worth trying?

In all fairness they are called 'Elk Trackers' and not 'Elk Packers'... All in all they have been good boots and comfortable for me but I will echo that the waterproofing is not as good and you will need to apply leather waterproofer on the leather. I dont think they have an inner waterproof...

    First recurve suggestions

I went ahead and got the PSE Nighthawk in 30lb. I am shooting a 60 lb compound right now and was comfortable with a 30 lb trad I rented at my local range. I also got a Rest, Stringer, T Square, nocks, nock pliers and a rest. Do you know anything else I will need to get set up? I am going to get...

    Anything Irish Setter worth trying?

I have had them for about 3 and a half years. This fall was my first year hunting but they have seen pretty regular hiking and camping trips. One nice thing about real leather is it will last a long time if you take care of it. They are extremely comfortable as well. Typically I cant wait to...

    Anything Irish Setter worth trying?

I have a pair of uninsulated elk trackers and have really liked them. The traction is really good and they just stick to rock faces in an impressive way. As for waterproofing I have not been really happy as they let some water in on my hunt this fall but some leather waterproofer should...

    Best kid one liners

I play this game with my cat sometimes where I swipe at him with my bare hands to play and see how many times I can do it before he gets me with his claws and draws blood. Anyway, I call it "Kitty-Cat blood sport" and my wife thinks I am an idiot but my cat enjoys it. Anyway, a few weeks ago we...

    Disappointed in OnX

Sounds good. The only other thing I would suggest is putting some kind of compass overlay or icon on the map with direction and degrees. I typically like to use OnX as a reference point to check periodically and if I can use the program to get my bearing then follow it with a compass I dont have...

    Is a meat grinder necessary?

Kitchenaid stand mixers are really nice. You can even use them to shred chicken. You just cook it on the stove then throw the thighs or breast into the mixing bowel and it will shred it just like a restaurant. It will probably work with roasts too.

Does anyone NOT wear merino underwear?

I have some Icebreaker Merino underwear and have been really happy with them. They ride up with my First Lite pants though but I think that is due to the pants and not the underwear as they are fine with jeans.

    First recurve suggestions

Thanks for the advice everyone. I looked at the Black Hunter but decided to go with a more reputable brand. I ended up ordering a PSE Nighthawk 30lbs. I liked the look of the wood more than the Samick Sage. The Galaxy riser and ILF looks like a legit combo but I really want a more traditional...

    Mechanix 30% off

I have had terrible luck with their leather work gloves. The last few pair I bought the finger tips always wear out in a month or two.

    Disappointed in OnX

It also drains your battery very quickly if your phone is constantly looking for cell service. I forgot to turn mine off one day and almost drained the battery by the afternoon.

A few more tips- Can you please revamp/improve your LiveMap feature? I tried to use it with my buddy and it was really a pain when we were planning our elk hunt this year. -It took about 20 min to get all set up and have him live. -None of my lines/waypoints were showing on his map which kind...
