I bought the Peloton 240 full zip in Ash for hunting and I pretty much wear it every day its so comfortable. The KUIU flexible fabric really adds a lot of mobility. I wish the hood was a little bigger though because the whole sweatshirt rides up a little when I have the hood on.
I am looking to get a new pair of merino base layers for hiking/hunting. My old Icebreaker boxer briefs bunched up too much which got pretty old after 5 days in the elk woods. I have heard good things about the First Lite Merino and am looking at the longer 10'' Boxer Brief or the longer boot...
What did you hate about the KUIU holster? The FHF looks like a good setup but the price is almost twice as KUIU. FHF is made in USA though which I do like.
Every phone has a GPS now but I am still raising my 2 daughters to know how to triangulate with a map and compass. I am actually setting up a treasure hunt in the next few weeks that is just going to be a list of coordinates etc for them to find. OnX is great until your phone breaks or your...
I got an Amazon Basics synthetic puffy jacket and used it for elk hunting last fall. I was actually really surprised how warm it was and how it held up. They run about $30 too so it hits pretty well above its weight class...
Just a heads up for those going down there. There are 0 gas stations between Salida and Saguache so fill up there. I learned that the hard way last weekend thinking Villa Grove had gas and they dont.
If I didnt blow my money on a new pack yesterday I would jump on this. I have one in Ash and its so comfortable I basically live in it. Cuts the wind really well too.
Im sold. I really need a day pack that has a load shelf and this fits the bill. Thanks for the heads up, I just snagged one on Campsaver for $170 out the door:

That actually looks like a legit pack. The Venture cant really haul any meat and when I called KUIU they said about 35 lbs is the max for their Venture packs. I might get one of those for the fall actually, have you been happy with yours?
KUIU has there Venture 2300 on the outlet right now for a pretty good deal:

I have the Venture 1800 and really like it. I sometimes wish I got the 2300 though for the extra room.
Once I stumbled in there after work when I lived in Utah. I thought it was just some outdoor expo that was open to the public and nobody asked for a pass at the door. Anyway someone finally comes up and asks for my pass and I got grilled about trespassing and escorted to the door by security...
I dont blame them really. You come out of a sport and you are in top physical shape and you want to be able to continue an active lifestyle and get outside. There seems to be a decent overlap between sports medicine and hunt training as well.
OnX with the Road/Access type overlay shows roads with Highway vehicles or hiking trails only so the ATV really would not give you an advantage. There are other units however that would benefit greatly from an ATV as Colorado can be strict between ATV and SxS access.
Meanwhile Sweden is going through a gun crime epidemic. Its not Swedes doing the killing.

We dealt with that water issue a lot. Last fall 80% of the supposed water sources were dry in the first area we were camped at. Another factor is the micro-climates of mountains in CO. You can be in an area that is bone dry then go 10 miles over into a gully and it will be like a swamp in there...
