I greatly appreciate all of the info in this thread and threads like this, but I find I'm often more unsure of what I want after I've read through them than I was before. I guess at some point we just have to spend some money and hope for the best.
I find being out in nature alone to be a completely different experience to being out with other people. I wouldn't say it's better, but it's definitely a different experience that I like to be able to have.
You could try the coffee snob way and brew light roasted pour-over coffee at 195F. Happymug has very reasonable prices on fresh roasted coffee and shipment is very fast. It'll be a lot less bitter than the common darker roasts you typically find in the grocery store.

I've just got my first pair of Cripsi boots from midway - Crispi Valdres Plus GTX - on sale. I'd definitely recommend them if they have your size. They may be the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, not just boots.
