    What's your favorite caliber?

Depends on what I’m hunting or doing. But deer wise medium to larger game I’m 30-06.

    6.5 Grendel 12" or 16"

was looking to go with Carbine length because a mid length gas system puts the gas block right at the end of a hand guard. Ive got a 18" PSA mid length barrel in my parts bin that's never been fired. i was considering cutting it down shorter but when i put it up to the handgaurd it came right to...

    6.5 Grendel 12" or 16"

So i currently have a 18" Grendel in AR platform and loving it. I Have an "extra" AR 300 blk pistol im planning to make into another 6.5Grendel but stuck on barrel length for it. My plan was to make it 12" barrel Pistol but having second thoughts now. The uses for the build would be for a 200...

    6.5 Grendel velocities

lol. I was joking about using the 300 for hogs. It would definitely work but yep it’s pretty potent round and recoil.

    6.5 Grendel velocities

Wow. I’ve never hunted hogs but if I ever do I’m thinking my 300 win. Now. lol. Be like hunting or fishing in Alaska around bears where you can’t have to much gun and want to be sure first shot is perfect.

    6.5 Grendel velocities

How do the Partitions do vs the SST on the hogs? Sounds like they are about equal. I was hoping on deer the partitions would work on shoulder shots and pass completely through.

    6.5 Grendel velocities

Thanks Mulyhuntr I was concerned the results were bit high with the chrono i borrowed being its bit cheaper model and i had never used it before. My biggest issue so far has been that its really hard to find anything much on the 125 Partition with Grendel shooters.

    6.5 Grendel velocities

Over the last couple months ive been working on loads for a new 6.5 Grendel with 18" Faxon barrel. I have been using CFE223 and Tac powders. Bullets are 123gr. SST and 125gr Partition. I started my first ladders with my crono and Shortly after that my crono got hit while testing some 10 mm with...

    Thoughts on scope and magnification

Happy. I messed around with both the 1-8 strike eagle and the 6-18 AO for 2 days in the hunting area and woods early in day mid morning and at dusk as well as shooting. Neither one fit my happy place all around. So I bought a Leupold freedom 4-12x40. Just got back from shooting it at 100, 200...

    Thoughts on scope and magnification

Over the years I’ve gotten to where I use mostly Vortex models on everything. For the money they do well in the woods, hunting and get used heavy. Not abused but not babied either. They have all been great without issue. I have yet to buy or use a Leupold but I’ve put a bunch on others rifles...

    Thoughts on scope and magnification

I actually looked at the 3-9 creed today online. Right now I’m planning to to shoot some more Saturday right at sun up to see how the 2 compare in early light. I’ve kinda thinking I’ll end up going the 3.5-10 route with something with good decent glass durability and lighter like Leupold likely.

    Thoughts on scope and magnification

Took off work early and did some shooting in my hunting area. I’ve kinda come to the conclusion that 3-9, 3.5-10 and 4-12 are the best options with 3.5-10 sweet spot for best do all. love the 6-18 for open terrain non close shooting and on bench load work up. The 1-8 is compact slightly...

Thank you Taperpin, I don't think im quite understanding about using is set on 3.5 vs turning it up higher for bit longer shots. say at 200 yds.

    Thoughts on scope and magnification

Thanks gentlemen. I admit last year hunting with my 06 and 4-12 scope my 2 farthest shots were bit over 150 yards and 1 at right at 200 yards with scope on 4x. I keep it on 4 in case deer walks out into the field close to me and turned it up when deer ere further away. In both the cases on the...

That’s a good suggestion and I actually thought of it too. Offset irons and a small red. They seem to be very likely to catch on gear and such.

    Thoughts on scope and magnification

Well I took both scopes into the woods by the house and took a drive over to the field I’ve hunted and tried both scopes at dusk. I believe the 1-8 was nice in the woods during daylight but because the most I could see was 75 yards at best. The 6-18 was fine on 6x but probably liked the 1-8...

    Close-Range Woods Scope

As others have said the LPVO is what your description is seeking in a type scope. There are a number of brands and models out there. I’ve got the Vortex 1-6x24 strike eagle and the 1-8x24 strike eagle they have both been great scopes.
