I’ve got by with a couple 120 qt Coleman’s but I don’t live far from where I generally hunt. Long about August I start saving milk jugs for cooler ice.
I used the 8 man tipi with xl stove for my son and I. By the time you get all your gear and wood in, it can get tight. Nice to have the extra room if you can handle the weight.
If you have the time, fix it. If you suspect galvanic corrosion I would replace that stretch with another material, pvc or pex. Once you have your parts, make a pot of chili and fill you up a hunting jug of water and turn the house water off…. And go to work.
In general they are exceptional. There are places you can go to find them with more regularity of course and others where they simply don’t exist. In places I have spent time in they are like pink unicorns.
Thanks. I should mention I do want the unit to have angle compensation.
I have an older Leica Rangemaster that works like new. Just doesn’t do angles.

Looking for a couple rangefinders for my boys for Christmas. They currently have some cheaper Athlons that aren’t very reliable. I am currently comparing these models in price and capability:
- Vortex Crossfire HD 1400
- Leupold RX 1400
- Sig Kilo Canyon
I’m looking for actual experiences with...
I have seen first hand Barnes bullets that don’t create much damage when impacting soft tissue. I would choose an accubond over Barnes. That said, I’ve knocked over a bunch with both.
