I started with the black hunter longbow at 45#, liked it alot as a beginner with not much experience to compare it against. Then I got the recurve in 30# and 60#. I didn't use the 30# too much because although it was easy to draw and practice form, the arrow flight was so weak that it seemed...
I'd wait and see if you can get any better ideas when you actually hunt with him, but otherwise if he wants the BK-2 it's for a reason, so best to go with the BK-2 rather than some "fancier" knife with different specs that don't meet his intended use criteria.
Makes sense but seems tough to approach from their nose because it seems like their noses are always pointed into the wind.
Maybe the right experience and/or terrain will reveal such an opportunity, and if I see a chance to move in from the side to head one off I'll keep that in mind as a...
I've seen the term dogging being used but not sure what that means exactly? Is that like following them from a distance without trying to get into shooting range?
Okay so elk are going up during the day to bed and I see them coming down at night to feed and drink.
The thermals are going down at night and up during the day.
I see the elk starting to come down a few hours before sunset, not sure what time they move back up because I don't wake up that...
Ya thanks for the reply. Especially knowing about jumping the string. At 15 yards I wasn't too concerned about it but now I know 30yds might be a different story, thanks. Also the freezing vs. ducking may prove helpful.
And yes I forgot to mention that I'm shooting a 60# recurve and my arrows...
I'm a rookie but I think in the long run both eyes would be the better option because you get twice the visual information. Consciously it may be hard to use at first but subconsciously the brain should be able to use the extra info to a benefit.
I've searched the forums and found some info but looking for more, please share your diverse opinions on any of the following questions so I have more info to help me make good decisions...
1. 100g 3 blade tip or 125g broadhead? - I've been practicing with 100g and 125g field points, not a...
Wow this was a game changer for me, thanks so much for asking me this question!
Last night I basically found the distance... at about 40yds I was putting the tip of my arrow maybe 6 inches below the target, so my real point on distance is probably somewhere around 42-45 yards. My follow through...
Thats a good point you mention, I do sight down my arrow and then shift focus to the target but I feel like that was to get my draw length right as much as it was about using the arrow for my sight picture (I've been recently trying to use muscle memory/feel alone to know when my draw length is...
My prior plan this season was to be able to take shots at least up to 15 yards and likely 20 depending on how the next month of practice goes.
Then I got a single sight pin to try out, and after putting on the sight pin and getting it somewhat "zeroed" wow I was almost immediately able to group...
I have some Skre stuff, but haven't really put it to the test yet. Like someone else said there stuff seems to be about 80 or 90% the quality of the top brands but at a pretty significantly lower price point. They have a lifetime guarantee and that's why I pulled the trigger on a few of their...
