It was a fun hunt. Seen a pile of deer. Alot of decent bucks. 130-160. Even a true 160 was a little few and far between. Finding a buck over 170 was a real feat. I believe we seen 1 that broke 170. There were 3 killed that I know of. We figured in 8 days we seen 3500 deer and 400 bucks. We put...
I was pretty stoked when I drew it. If you happen to have any tips you'd be willing to share I'd appreciate a message if you have time. We'll be there for the last 10 days. We actually party tag drew it my buddy and I are stoked!!
That's awesome. I usually run all over wyoming range and salt river range in 15 days. I won't make it this year due to drawing a late season tag but I will miss it. I am glad to hear that bucks are showing up and can't wait to see what sept 15 holds. Thanks for posting.
Sure am glad to hear there's some muleys thriving. Any word on numbers through out the area guys are seeing? I've heard from a few guys it's not nearly as bad as they thought it was going to be.
I happened to draw a late season mule deer tag around dubois wyoming. I'm a wyoming native. Have been hunting the high county western wyoming for the past 2 seasons. For the decade prior to that hunted the flat lands and breaks of eastern and North eastern wyoming.
I am very curious how the...
I see this is a pretty old thread. Any updates to this? I'm currently in the market, looking for 12s or 15s range finding binos but willing to go without range finding. Definitely thinking range finding are the way to go they way i hunt. Any recommendations in 2023?
I have multiple friends who shed hunted all over the winter range. Mesa, middle piney, calpet, north piney, etc. I believe 1 friend did 26 miles in 2 days and only found 1 dead mule deer. Another did 14 miles and found 2 dead muke deer. The extreme death must have been very area specific...
Correct but with the amount of deer left he said the chances of it spreading is very limited.
I seen alot of reports showing no where near 80% I seen more like 50/60% and 90% of fawns. But it looked like the deer that lived were looking good from fat content. I'm curious where the data actually...
I'm not too sure about the whole CWD deal but a biologist told me this winter may have been mother nature taking care of it. The sick deer died and there's not enough deer for it to travel around? Idk a thought.
I seen that this year they seen more fat on these deer than they did in 2017. I'm curious how this will affect the pregnant does? I would have to imagine this year's fawn will be better off than 2017? Also the antler growth on mature deer?
Does anyone know if western wyoming has been getting...
I started hunting it out of a camper. We bring back pack tents in case but we have found a good base camp is our best way to hunt there. We get up high before day light and start glassing. Glass the nasty stuff don't walk it! Found that 50" rzr or 4 wheeler can help a guy cut a few miles off his...
