When using hornadys 4dof ballistic calculator for the 178 eldx in my .308, gives me a 5.75moa drop with my xero velocity @350 yards. And the in-field actual is 5.25moa. @500 yards the hornady data is 9.81moa and the in-field actual is 8.75. I just chalked it up to the hornady data being...
Yes, I have a 24" barrel. It seems like there really is no advantage to switching from the barnes. The barnes shoot well in my gun and have a more appealing price point.
Great information guys! I am tempted to try the 145 grain hht in my 7mm mag. I should be able to push those around 3200fps. I keep shots within 500 yards, obviously the closer the better.
OK thanks for the advise, appreciate the information. I don't have a lot of experience with copper. I wanted to give the hammers a try, they seem to be getting a lot of hype.
On the hammer website, it states they test to a minimum velocity of 1800fps. I know copper bullets tend to need more speed to expand properly but this seems a bit fast. The LRX line from barnes advertise some of their minimum expansion speeds at 1500fps. Has anyone compared expansion between the 2?
Thanks for the replies! I use CCI BR2 primers on my 7mm mag with good results. 3020fps and single digit SD. Do you think ill have issues running a non magnum primer on the 300? It definitely has a larger powder capacity.
Hi all, first time posting. I've been following the forum for quite some time and really enjoy all the great information.
My question is, what brass for a 300 win mag do you folks find holds up the best and is the most consistent? How many times do you fire it before it's no good?
Thanks for...
