    Why park at fuel/gas pumps?

As a young driver I got an earful for using a diesel pump when there were 6 other pumps with regular. I had never considered what other fuel was at the pump besides the one that I needed.

AK Sheep BOG Comments due Oct 13

The way I understand it is subsistence hunts in Alaska will always trump “non subsistence” or sport hunts. I am curious on ways to proactively help sheep populations. I hear predator control would help. I think it could, but the western brooks is a huge area with difficult access. There are...

I wouldn’t be in favor of adding more regulations to mix. Also the closure affects the federal lands, so even if the state closed its lands to non-motorized that wouldn’t necessarily affect the federal lands. In my understanding a non resident can still hunt state managed lands in 23 and 26a.

    How’s your fuel prices

I’m still trying to figure out what the 232.61 is too. Something with the village rebate maybe… The total for 10 gallons of gasoline was 159.90 plus the 9 and change village taxes. Gas is flown in and it’s expensive to fly gas.

I’m not sure where this fits into the puzzle but Noatak national preserve was established in 1978. Still recently enough that many of the locals that use the area can remember what it was before it was designated national preserve. While I agree with the statement that it is federal land and we...

The type of knowledge that you are trying to find can’t be found in a book or a website. One problem with your argument is that the subsistence working group doesn’t need your support to make the closure happen. If you understand that then you might be able to make a better argument to support...

    How’s your fuel prices

Dead serious. I’m off the road system and fuel is flown into the village I live in. I’ll grab a photo next time I get gas. Near as I figure it costs about a $1 a mile to take my widetrak out in the winter time. Makes walking look real appealing at times.

    How’s your fuel prices

Lol did you google “highest price of fuel in Alaska?” That might be accurate for the road system, but there are plenty of places off the road system that use fuel too. FYI I did find the actual cost on 2 different websites, but I know where I live. Let’s see how good your internet sleuthing is…

Cold weather co sleeping with toddlers

I do a fair bit of winter camping with my family. Live above the Arctic circle and kids 9, 7, and 4. A good tent and a wood stove go a long ways. We have wiggys 0 degree bags. Sleeping in a winter hat also makes a big difference when it is cold.

What do you do to keep warm on a cot?

Fire a wood stove in the tent.
